If you beat Pakistan 3-0 then I can't agree that we were equally "piss poor " as you say
Windies we win first test easy and were likely to go up 2-0 until "superman " with the bung toe turns up on last day and close to greatest bowling spell with a 7 for at close to 150 k on the last day and we lose by 8 runs which is a very narrow margin
Then 3-0 in the ODI's against weak opposition using only a handful of our world cup winning side .
So far Summer results 7-1 and the 1 was tiny margin
That's not equally as poor as opposition
I do agree that a few individuals had a poor home summer .eg Head apart from 1 ton
Imo I thought Smith and Marnus were a bit scratchy and Marsh and Green were inconsistent. Cant knock our bowlers who gave it their best Albeit looked a little tired in last test .
Next summer India will be a true test
Rose coloured glasses if ever I have seen them. They were in losing positions in two of the three tests against Pakistan. Let’s not pretend they breezed through and had it all their own way, and the poor old Aussies just weren’t given a challenge. By their standards at home, they were piss poor. As if you or anyone else wouldn’t have thought every win would have been a training run if you were told before the Pakis series that they’d win 3-0. You’d probably call for the person who told you that the Windies would win a test that they need to be committed. If they play like that next summer, India will murder them.

The fact the team did have pressure on them and still prevailed shows how good they are, and how tough mentally they are.
The Test they lost was in a very winnable position for us. The Windies just had one bloke play like a superstar and our batsmen were very poor. It happens.
I think our batsmen as a group had a poor summer, yet still had individual performances that helped us win tests. The bowlers were great for the most part.
Test Cricket is never a training run. That is a very arrogant attitude to have.

I guess I'm a little influenced by the World Cup triumph a few months ago
During my working career or at least the last 20 years of it I travelled all over Asia and actually lived in Asia for the last 16 years .During this time I Had to go to India many times some 70 times in all ranging from 3 day to 2 week visits and I knew that the World Cup was massive to 1.3 bill people .They are a very strong team and that day Capt Pat and his boys silenced them which probably must go down as one of our greatest cricketing triumphs .
I think in the next few months it probably led to us being a little flat .
I don't think many Australians realise just how big it was .
Its funny that most of our team are household names in India but not here .
Given the weak opposition this summer im cutting them a little slack

Yes that’s interesting, mine are the same.
Tv and tablets are the killer.
We have new rules this year surrounding both.
Obviously at 76 I'm a generation further removed .My 46 year old daughter has 6 kids and its scary that 3 of them are adults .What I love is they are all into sport especially rugby League . The amount of phones ,Tablets and other gaming and entertaining devices in the house is to me mind boggling .

T20 tonight .Stoinis back his team mates of 2 days ago are now his opposition and Andre Russell playing for Windies tonight are one of 38 !!! Teams he has played for .
How do you motivate ,I guess you see it as a job with a good pay rate

With the T20 world cup a few months away .Windies called in most of their 20/20 stars for game 1 as did we ( almost no Head , Starc , Cummings ). Well we won a tight one and guess who was MOM Davey !is back and seeing the ball well .
Not everyone's favourite but he's in my squad for World Cup based on form
Strangely Maxwell looked out of sorts didn't bat well and then fielded poorly

Noticed Maxwell's 120 off 55 balls in the 2nd T20 against Windies hasn't rated a mention on the forum
Australia's summer of cricket ends tonight
Summary Redball Australia 4-1 ( the loss was by 8 runs ,very narrow for a 5 day game )
Whiteball Australia 5-0 all big margins
Pretty good coming on the back of our World Cup triumph and our future looks ok with our
U 19 lads also winning world cup this week

Massive run chase ahead in tonight’s game, WI deserve another win.

Also the Aus vs NZ matches (3 T20s and 2 tests IIRC) start next week, still plenty of cricket left.
