Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Only way Tallis Ducan would consider leaving Souths would be we have a decent year this year and $$$

Why do you say that? No way he is playing lock at Souths any time soon. If I'm a youngster ready for NRL but stuck behind a star, the opportunity to play regular NRL at another club close to home is perfect. In fact I'd say he would be mad to not look at his options.

JWH has been a fearless forward for the roosters i still remember a game years ago between wests tigers & the roosters simon dyer defending our line with the game in the balance put a hit on him
with seconds to go stopped him in his tracks & loses the ball two young bulls hargraves appeared to lower & bulldoze dyer but come off second best i think we may have lost that game with an unfair penalty to roosters not sure geez we could do with a simon dyer these days the bloke could have been anything could also score a try or two thats why i love the big hits i think the yanks will be impressed

That was a final. A final we would have won if dopey Chris Heighington had of dived on the ball from the scrum win after that hit happened.

How does someone's opinion on where he might end up equate to "like they want him gone" then?

I think penrith will probably win the comp this year, does that mean I want penrith to win the comp over the tigers?
Because as soon as uncle Nick farts, someone links stef to bondi...dont take it personal its not only you frodo

Think twice about that .. possibly no Crichton and no JWH next season leaves a large chunk of $$ to play with .. ;-)
They have the money, but it wouldn’t make sense for them to spend big on a front rower considering they have bigger needs in the backline and potentially in the halves.

Collins, Leniu, Tyrell May, Egan Butcher, Nat Butcher, Radley, Tupouinoua, Wong and Whyte are all/will be quality first graders and even one of them won’t make their 17 based on numbers.

Losing Tupou (likely), Suualii and Manu means they are going to be seriously short in the backline so much more likely they spend there. Not to mention Keary is only there for one more year after this season so they will probably look to invest in the halves.

Roosters are smart operators, they’re not going to blow their cap on forwards and have 1 or 2 big earners potentially playing in NSW Cup.

"It's not only you frodo" ? It's not me at all.
I don't think I've ever said Stef ends up at the Roosters.

I've asked you how thinking Stef ends up at Roosters equates to wanting him gone, which you have not answered. I think the only one here who should be worried about their comprehension is you.

One of the best games . My son still talks about it. The Dwyer tackle shook the stands!

Now now dont go twisting things, saying things I didnt say

Youre really starting to take this personally...its not like that ive told you twice now
You can keep going with it but its boring me

I agree and anticipate the onus will be on all our players to show their worth to us throughout the 2024 season.
If we happen to finish in the bottom 4 I’m anticipating a lot of current players will be shown the door, contracted to us or not.
teddy23 just mentioned Tallis Duncan could be on our radar. If that information is correct I think he could be the type of signing to help catapult us into genuine title contenders. Anyone who doubts that, watch the intent, attitude and class he plays with for the Rabbitohs this season. He will be an elite rep player before too long and will not have the opportunity to play in his favoured number 13 jersey for Souths anytime soon with Cameron Murray blocking his path.
can't say i see what you do in Tallis Duncan. Fine player with a bright future but i dont see an elite rep player in him.

3 wingers we should be keeping an eye on;
1. Semi Valemai who is a typical big, strong & fast Fijian who at age 24 is really starting to nature as an NRL player. NQ Cowboys surely wouldn’t be able to pay him too much to stay, he’d look great in Wests Tigers colours.
2. Tony Francis a young up and coming 21y.o powerhouse winger who starred at Q Cup level last season and looked great starting for Gold Coast in their trial on the weekend. He is contracted to Gold Coast for the next couple of seasons, but there does not look to be any room for him to play NRL for them when they are full strength. He could be a like for like replacement for Junior Tupou but has more upside if we could get him out of his contract with the Titans.
3. Latia Moicedreke is another Fijian flyer who stands at almost 2 metres tall and is only just starting to fill into his big frame and make strong charges out of his teams danger zone like good wingers do. That coupled with his great aerial threat and try scoring ability would make him a great acquisition. He’s currently with the Knights, but don’t think he will get much NRL opportunity with them due the their strong depth in the outside backs.

If we are looking to bolster our back row stocks with someone who could be exceptional we should be having a close look at young 19y.o Noah Martin who was a standout for the Raiders in their trial. He’s another that will find it very hard to get in the Raiders top 17 due to their strong depth in the back row, but is a big, strong, tall and aggressive back rower who also looks to hit hard and make an impact when defending, he would be a great recruit for 2025.
Jack Bostock from the Dolphins could be a straight swap for Tupou

Bostock and Tupou are BOTH signed with the Dolphins for 2025....

They did not sign Tupou to replace Bostock - and have both factored into their squad for 2025.

There is NO such thing as a "straight swap" or player trade in the NRL - as contract values and terms are never equal!

Something has got to give up there in 2025. They are stacked in the backs.
Tesi Niu is off contract for 2025...

Te Whare is not a long term option.

They have flexibility but targeted Tupou for a reason - while still having Bostock on their books in 2025...

I don't get the Bostock fixation....

Have you ever considered good players are not happy if they are not playing regular NRL and will kick and scream to get out of their contract if they feel they are a better chance of playing regular NRL at a rival club.
You don’t think a fit Te Whare is NRL quality ?
