LIVE GAME Trial 2 vs. Dragons

Live Game Discussion
From what I have heard, he is supposedly on $500k this year ( same as the Fainu brothers from what we read in the paper) , then apparently that increases to $700k 2025-27…

what do you want to pay him ? He won the club player of the year last year …you honestly think another team wouldn’t pay him that ?Lucia just got $900k a year …

I mean … how do you feel about Sullivan on $550k (reportedly) for 4 years .. he will be behind Galvin, Luia and maybe Fainu next year ..
What other NRL club plays him as their fullback ?
He’s worth 400k max as a potential centre/winger.

Seyfarth wasn't the reason for all.those try's scored against us.

Flimsy edge defence and some very hard running big men
I like Seyfarth as a player and would say he was only directly related to the Suli try.
As plenty have been saying it’s only a trial, but my concern is Seyfarth is a no frills effort type of player who is generally a very reliable defender. We don’t want to see him directly related to any tries conceded ideally.

Football is a simple game, but the one thing u can’t do is have ur forwards hit it up for 5 tackles then make them tackle every set . There is enough people sitting in that box who have played enough football to know this , just can’t work out why we keep doing it , benji for gods sake sit down and watch 20 games of the panthers or the sharks and see how they set there plays up , not saying that’s the way to go but they have so much structure and that’s what we are missing. Use the the ball benji and the team will have more energy to defend .

It’s not a good sign when everyone’s saving grace is an 18 year old kid who’s yet to debut. Sure, Benji was that kid, but he was a once in a lifetime prospect at 18. As good as Galvin is, I don’t think he’s that.
I agree with that statement.
Galvin looks a very promising player, but he’s not lighting quick and not an individually brilliant match winner, he’s the type of player who identifies space, uses the ball well and brings others into the game.

Yes it is very frustrating to watch.
It’s hard to work out why we regularly played like that under Madge, regularly played like that under Sheens and now showing signs of playing like that under Benji.
It was only really Kimmorley on his short time as our coach who showed signs of playing with better structure by moving Hastings to 13 which created attacking options.
I keep saying it, but when we have no 13 or 1 who know how to play with structure, it makes it too hard on our halves to do it alone.

Because structure and defence allows for the razzle dazzle.

let's be a little patient.

Disappointing to see that we still don't know what the bloke next to us is doing. The backline plays with blokes standing still or flat not running on to the ball is under 10s stuff. No one straightens the attack, and it looks like they just run each other in to touch. I know it's just a trial, but this stuff should be like clockwork 3 weeks out from the season start.
New players in key positions who aren’t proven NRL players yet, it’ll be rough this year.

Dragons for starters … made their fullback look like a fool on his way to the try line yesterday …like I said .. they just paid Lucia $900k…

Reece Walsh is about to get $1.4 m a year…

Arent they paying Olam $700k a year to be their Center for next three years?

Yes we need to go all out attack.
Someone mentioned Simpkin as a ballplaying lock. I’m not against it. Galvin is another option. Bula needs work on his ballplaying. He needs to touch the pill far more frequently than he does.

No way in the world are the Dragons paying Bula 500k or more if he’s on the open market.
He’s no better than Sloan and they also have Lomax who has all the attributes to be a very good fullback.
Nothing against the bloke, but we have clearly jumped the gun and paid too much for him.
Tristan Sailor and Joash Papali’i are both much better more natural fullbacks who keep opposing defences guessing with their all round games and they would both highly likely be on bare minimum wages and neither can get in their teams starting line ups when at full strength.

Given the 20 runarounds with a Prop when were attacking, do we take it that this was Benjis idea in 2023, because I blamed Sheens for this lame tactic. Were still using it, it's slow motion, embarrassing and so predictable.
I think it’s a ploy to use our best player, Api, in a playmaking role. Bin it.

I keep mentioning Lucia … is he worth $900k?

You are under the mistaken belief that if you are paid $700k you have to be a superstar …that’s Olam money …he is worth $700k?

Easy to say only a trial, but that right side defence of ours looked soft.

Credit to the dragons they were strong but our defence made them look like superstars. Maybe they are superstars and we still have a long way to go and roster that just isn’t up to it??

Lucia not worth anywhere near 900k but is a much better attacking second rower than any of ours.
An ageing injury prone Olam not worth anywhere near 700k and Bula not worth anywhere near 700k.
No top 4 club would even consider paying these over inflated wages for these players.
With Olam I will say even on one leg he looked ti try and make a difference. If we can somehow get him injury free he will be very valuable to us in the short term. Not sure how he’ll be looking by 2026.

If only we could combine Sloan's offence with Bula's defence.

but these are the deals available in the market … whats the relevance of the Top 4 when there are 17 teams competing against each other?

I highlight Lucia and Olam as shyte players getting massive overs from desperate teams… i have no doubts another team wouldn’t pay Bula what the Tigers are paying him
