2024 Pre-Season

Or an inexperienced move from an inexperienced coach. Time will tell, best of luck with two inexperienced halves!
Just don’t get not bringing him off the bench 4 several reasons.
I certainly get where you’re coming from and Benji, myself and the club may have egg on their face come 5pm Saturday, but again, it’s a ballsy move and for that reason I’m impressed.

if these rumours are true about Galvin outperforming Sezer and Marshall is willing to stick to his word and pick whoever has performed the best in preseason then I'm all for it.

it's a huge call for Galvin to debut in Canberra without even a minute of Jersey Flegg, but I tell you what I absolutely love it. it sets a precedent. you work hard, you'll be rewarded.
It is beyond retarded

Anyone else nervous about Saturday? I am heading to the game, pumped but really hope we get the victory and move into the top 8.

The raiders are nitty gritty side and get some lucky tries from kicks. The raiders tend to give everyone they play a chance though.

We need to start fast for once and lead 10-0.

Mate, the Raiders are a side filled with hardarses who go all day.
We are well and truly their bunnies over the past decade.
They will be buoyed by their tough win in Newcastle.
They love putting up the highball and we rarely catch them.
We haven’t played for 3 weeks and in our last game we played like baby backed bitches.

Yeah I’m nervous about this one….

Raiders are a tough game for anyone.

Tigers need to turn up & somehow match the effort, or as Tucker points out...we are their bunnies.

Round 1 showed clubs going full belt from the start. Raiders, Sharks, Storm, Eels, Dragons....high effort & hard running COMBINED with aggressive defence...we need to match that or we are 0-7 again.

Key to beating the Raiders is going to be controlling the speed of the ruck and minimising their second phase play by limiting offloads.

In attack we never seem to have enough players in motion running realistic lines. Makes for easy pickings for the defensive team.

I hope they turn up.

Good enough, old enough. Benji knows what it’s like to carry a team as a kid. They need to be patient however, if anything comes out of this year it has to be some more kids taking their opportunity like Bula last year.
When did Benji carry the team as a kid?
You’re not going to say 05 are you?

If I was Benji and I'm not.I would let Galvin sit on the bench and let the Raiders big boppers get tired and then let Lachie loose...
I would hate for the kid to get hurt or lose confidence because he was mauled in his first NRL game...
But I wish him all the best and he dominates the game...
Flashes of Gamble's debut v Raiders and Feledy's v Sea Eagles come to mind. Both really bad on the confidence levels.

Yep definitely second phase. Papalli and Tapine offload at will. Need to lock it up.

Easy there tiger. Players can easily get ruined at that age. A lot will tell you that’s what happened to Matt Groat. If he’s ready, that’s fine. But you don’t throw an 18 year old in just for the hell of it because there is nothing to lose. If he’s not ready, there is.

I completely get where you’re coming from, but if he is ready then he’s ready, simple as that. the only way us fans will find that out is when we see him come 3pm Sunday. until then we’ll likely be debating this right up til kickoff.

No issue whatsoever if he’s ready. He may be our best half, (which would be very sad in a lot of ways) I l just don’t subscribe to the “let’s throw him in and see” POV.

justify this statement please.
It smells like stinky bullshit to me.
He (Galvin) has the most talent/ability out of the options available at 6 or 7… the stink you’re smelling is emanating from a club where this sad statement is true - that a teenager is better then English spoiled salad and Fultons four year albatross he lumped us with from the dragons.
Latu could be good but current fitness is under a cloud

Lukey what your saying is just your own speculation,Lachie has absolute talent but bugger all NRL experience or knowledge of how the top game is played YET...
Sezar has proved himself in 2 comps,Sullivan is yet an unknown to US and we dont know what he is capable of after 1 trial, but has had big hype around him and some minimal experience in grade,,
Mate we are all keen on Lachie succeeding but lets be sensible about it...

I'd laugh if the people breaking this story ALSO attended training & used the opposed session to break the story.

For the record- haven't Sezar & Sullivan played opposed all off season?
Man, just quoting what I saw. I didn’t say anything about who’d they pick.
But, with playing your first game of the season, you’d think they would be running their starting team together for continuity! Right??

Galvin looked pretty comfortable in his trial appearance and while he wasn't putting people on their ass, but I don't think he will get smashed in defence either.
The only concern will be who's driving the team around. Puts a fair bit of pressure on Api and bud to organise the troops.
But if we are simply looking at a net +/- for points by including Galvin over Sezer, I think it's the right call.
