2024 Pre-Season

Usually excited for the start of the season, and this Las Vegas venture should really set it off with a bang (even if the sceptics don’t have a clue what they’re watching). I don’t know, maybe it was that lacklustre performance against the fellow wooden spoon contenders as a preview to our season ahead, but I’m just not feeling it ATM 😕.

I'm exactly the same. I can't get into it at all. Bad feeling it's going to be a horrible season again so I guess I'm lowering my expectations as protection against disappointment (and anger)

I’ll only be disappointed by poor effort this year, not match outcomes. Benji gets a free pass with this young squad.

Went to training this morning interesting ti see some stuff
Bud and Galvin playing in the main squad in the halves
Sezer playing in the opposed team??
Staines outside toa and Olam running well with tupou outside him
Lobb in opposed team
Doueihi doing lots of kicking, reckon he’ll be back sooner than u think.
Still unimpressed with lack of repeat 5th tackle kicking practice, given it’s one of our biggest weaknesses. I would have thought you’d be running drill after drill until u get it right????
But they were more enthusiastic today than I’d seen in the past.
Interesting ti see api was last to leave field packing or the gear away.

The raiders are nitty gritty side and get some lucky tries from kicks. The raiders tend to give everyone they play a chance though.

We need to start fast for once and lead 10-0.

After that trial performance id be more happy about showing starch in defence by line speed and actually doing something on the 5th tackle instead of a kick.

Run hard and tackle hard. SUrely that wont be too hard for this lot?

Our lack of kicking on the 5th tackle is a deliberate choice by the coaches, it's not even one unique to us last year and will probably be more common across the league this year.

The nrl has just disincentived building pressure in your opposition 10 by making short drop outs less risky.

Very excited to see Galvin play halfback I presume against Raiders. He was really good vs Dragons when I watched him. Sezer against his old club could have been an advantage but it's not the worst thing to try out new combos at the start of the season

If he’s training in the opposed team that means he’s not injured just been overlooked? If so certainly a strange one… don’t see the need to thrust Galvin into the spotlight so soon.
