LIVE GAME Round 3 Discussion ••SPOILERS••

Jesus that was awesome defence from Staggs.
Belted Liam Martin who was at full noise and then body slammed him forcing a dropped ball. Lol that was great.
Matched by Taylan May rag dolling Cobbo in to touch when it mattered not one bit. I know it’s obvious but centre is a position we are so far behind in. Let’s hope we get something from Olam.

I’ve been banging on for years and years about the importance of having good centres. It’s amazing the amount of opposition to this I’ve encountered.
Just look at our centres over the past dozen years…it speaks for itself.

Watching the panthers tonight did you notice how they never gave up on a play, every player gets into a position to receive the ball again even if they have to run backwards to provide an option. They were able to offload continually because there was always an option. When we play, if its not a one out run, then the guy passing gives up immediately, stops and watches his teammate get hammered.

Panthers & Storm have a couple of things in common.

They lose a player- any player- and the next guy steps in & does the job. Differently- but does their bit.

Effort areas are always on point.

They attack in defence.

And the thing I've picked up lately- no dumb dumbs. Listening to them interviewed, they are articulate, they can interact & their language isn't manufactured. They are at ease, expressing themselves.

I'm not suggesting that all players need to be university educated.

But it does seem a common theme through these 2 clubs that the knucklehead element is minimised.

Agreed.
Unfortunately you can throw those bloody Qlders into that category too. It's usually the only difference between the sides.
Thats why I was so hopeful for this side, all this talk about standards. Its not too late, but the signs weren't good Rd1.

I made mention of this last night. They all pitch in.
For instance, Penrith lose JFH and Lindsay Smith steps up. Penrith know Fish regularly gives them between 8 & 9 out of 10 each game. Lindsay is not at that level yet so the outside backs chip in with tough carries and the odd aggressive hit to make up for the shortfall.
Net result, Fish isn’t missed.

Brisbane are still learning and haven’t mastered this yet therefore they couldn’t keep up.

I think the top teams play a new version of “next man up” where they intimately know what must be done to transition the next man in and keep the machine rolling. Teams like us still operate on “good enough, old enough” and as a result we end up with a hodgepodge of good players who do not play as a team.

We are years behind these clubs.

We play "next boy up."

They're dead set ruthless....
So Impressive to watch,

On that long Cobbo break, Most players would be happy to run him down....
(Our boys wouldn't have bothered)

But Tago (The Centre, Think it was him) gets to him, then tries to get round him and fashion a strip of sorts....
Was blown away, That's just that winning absolutely everything mentality...

We're not years behind, It's decades....

I think this is Year one of the true Rebuild TBH

Was 7-8 years ago when Penrith got rid of their Overpaid / non performing stars and focussed on youth and they're region.

Under Richo we have started the same path.

Cleary makes it look easy...ike Joey used to.
One of Tago try's after about 4 or 5 dummy's from Cleary had the Bronx like deer in headlights
Should be fun when we meet em again

Looks like Walsh will be out quite a while, confirmed facial fracture and had to be driven back to bris today

If that was Dylan Napa who clashed heads with Walsh he would have been sent off
