Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Left field this but I can’t see anything changing if we don’t try something.
I would chase shuster and pangi junior, but would only pay minimum wages for the rest of the year , if they preformed then next year pay a higher amount .
The reason I would do this is we need bigger bodies , shuster at lock and pangi in the backrow , we need punch .
I can hear the cry’s off NO , NO , NO , but what the hell have we got to lose if it works great if it doesn’t no harm done send them packing

Cant read the article … the timing of this seems unusual .. wouldn’t they want to get a look at him first ? unless another club has made him an offer
I reckon this has all been exaggerated probably by AD leaking to Chammas.

Richo/Benji probably said to AD, let's wait to see how you come back and perform before we negotiate a multi-year contract. However we understand your circumstances so we'd be happy to offer you $150K now for 1-year so you have some security etc etc etc.

I bet I'm closer to the truth than the way it's being reported.

Pretty sure AD would be aware that he's not going to get a big offer with a cloud hanging over his long term career.
Richo has done the right thing offering a minimum contract to kick things off.
AD also has, by saying no at this time, and believing he has something to offer.
He's backing himself to earn a bit more.
The only problem being if he goes down again this year it's all over and nobody's going to come knocking.

Will Doueihi take a lowball new contract offer? Maybe. Should Wests Tigers increase the offer? No. He's too big an injury risk. Let some other club take that risk

So now that this is in the media, does that mean Wests Tigers will remove the offer?
Doueihi is now managing himself, so who tipped them off I wonder!

Possibly another club has made him an offer and the Tigers have told him that they are only prepared to offer him the minimum

Our problem is our game strategy

Benji wants to play simple football through the middle bc our strength is API and our forwards.

I get it

BUT bc we have struggled to score points we end up getting in these grinding games which we can match for about 50 mins but then bc the other team has more class, or better attacking structures etc they end up scoring 1 or two more tries than us with ten minutes to go and then we try playing catch up and they score another try or two.

We are playing a negative brand of football which works for teams that have more class to our grind the other team.

We can win the odd game doing this like we have done this year.

But the negative style is costing us the chance to win more games imo.

We actually look good when galvin and our edge players get some ball.

And the refs have been against us but again I would put this down to negative play. Usually the ref calls even out over a period of games but when you play negative like we have they seem to compound the problem

And now our biggest problem is confidence and players looking tired and burnt out from grinding with no victories

I think we need to loosen the noose and come up with some actual attacking structures — Farrah might need to go bc he has zero coaching experience and our attack is worse in the league

The Panthers have shown interest in Crichton, who said he was eager to play at a successful club next year. That's not the TIGERS!
Successful club next year , that’s us this year we just getting use to Benji and the other coaches , Defence seems better we just can’t score still when we are in the opp 10/20 mtr out , The 2 panthers will help this out and fingers crossed our shopping list has a centre and. Big body prop TPJ is laying about doing nothing ? He come cheap

Crichton has the shits with the Roosters - load up Richo - get in there.
He won't come. Is yet another player from successful club and career that only wants easy life and success. It annoys me that you rarely see giving back to the lesser teams as good players start to peak and be replaced in glamour clubs and don't think / want to help the lesser clubs. Easy life.

I think you are overly negative about Doueihi for some reason.

2025 is not very far away. I assume the club has some decent idea of who might be available to buy between now and the next pre-season. I assume the club knows how much money they have left.

So you can put a minimum-wage offer to a nobody like Naden or Faataape, and I'm fine with that, but I think there is equal risk making that lowball offer to an injury-prone player with a much higher ceiling.
“a much higher ceiling” ?
Naden’s last game was straight out of the Douhie handbook, 5 missed tackles, couple of errors, and look good with the ball in hand but get bundled into touch at least once.
Although Faataape may not be as flashy with the ball in hand, I’d argue his D makes the other two look like lazy bums. I know who I’d keep if I had to pick one.

Faatape is our most reliable centre in defence, over Olam. But you all look past that for some reason.

I have said recently this attacking style they play is relatively easy to gameplan against … particularly when the Tigers have a number of players with poor discipline and respond to the “niggle”…

Just give them nothing back and eventually they will make mistakes and lose their cool …they are a team that can’t win this grinding style …

If another club is happy to pay more then credit to him - unfortunately I doubt anyone would take that risk at this current moment.

I think it’s a fair deal it’s a 1 year contract. He has the ability to showcase whether or not he’s worth more and get his market value up the following year. If he comes back both this (good coin) and next year and plays good football following 2025 who’s to say he can’t command 600-700k at another club.

They are saying he will go back to Souths , but with Dodd coming and all there other high class players on big money how could they afford him

So do we get rid of our Juniors and shy away from development in order to win now?
YES , none of the forwards at present could play nsw cup never mine 1st grade , couple of backs maybe , we have been rebuilding for years and it’s not working , if u want to wait an other 20 years the way there going

Full article:

The Wests Tigers have offered Adam Doueihi a one-year extension at minimum wage as the utility moves closer to a return from injury over the next six weeks.

Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson last week tabled Doueihi an offer for about $150,000 for next season.

Doueihi, who is coming off three ACL injuries, has opted against taking up the Tigers’ offer and will instead try to prove he is worth more than the club are willing to offer through his performances in the back half of the year.

He recently flew to Melbourne and was granted clearance to begin full contact training with an eye to returning in round 16-17.

Why is there a requirement that you give back to lesser clubs in the twilight of your career ? Those clubs would cut you just as quickly as glamour clubs if someone else came along. They are professional sportsmen.
