We’re on track but we really need to convert change to impact on the field.
( and yes I’ve left out home ground, sponsors, corporate etc but they all come through No 1).

Oh, and I forget, let’s change the jersey, that should do the trick - imho the whole jersey discussion on here is a woke crock of shit ! Sorry to you guys who worry continually about that sort of thing but it’s just fluff to me.
The roster is not a tick

We are two elite backline players (and improved squad depth) away from beating most teams in the comp. Stay the course. At least good players will come here now.
yes .. no doubt ..

he better be chasing these players though … he is certainly playing a straight bat otherwise .,

They are stil 2-3 years away from being able to rely on Juniors it appears

I've no doubt that now he is permanent in his role, he and others are starting to put a line through those that just aren't cutting it in terms of the squad both NRL and State Cup. The coaching staff is another issue with Benji being new I don't see any changes to those he has picked in his first full year. What I don't recall seeing is a coaching director which can assist all the coaches. That could/ should be the next chess piece. Who though?
Whilst I see your point MF does that appointment make us too top heavy ?
Benjis not going anywhere, I’d say this year or next, but by end 25 I think everyone in the organisation will be looking for “significant improvement” otherwise that will be the end of that experiment.

I’d say at least 1/2 a tick. We’re bringing in a $6million man, so that alone is worth a 1/2. I know there are many weaknesses but how, who, what , where and why do they all get fixed.
Look at the Dogs, Gould put a swathe through the roster and brought in a host of new players, and whilst they are a better side, not that much better.
But it all comes down to available $ and appropriate players. I hope we add a few more but just not sure how many.

Think its the only way to get some experience in to guide Benji and the others. Cant and shouldnt sack Benji, certainly at this stage and for next year at least, but how else can we get in an experienced old hand to provide the mentoring and leadership of the coaching staff? As I questioned who though?

I heard that Todd Payten has aspirations to come back “home” one day, and the way Cows are going he may be available.
A few others, like Demetriou,Holbrook, Griffin but they have been dumped so are they the right way to go, And they might not want to Coaching Director hat.
Outside that, not too sure.

Agreed. Plus one elite forward (a 2nd rower as I think Papalii was great at 13). Then we can have Pole and S Fainu off the bench. Maybe an impact prop (Miller?) too. I love Twal's but doesn't offer much impact.

As for off-field, I'd love to see Payten come back as assistant coach. Unlikely as he's a head coach but so was Morris. Payten and Morris would be great tactically/toughness-wise under the man-manager Benji.

I was surprised to see Ben Hornby taking on the interim coaching job at Souths, which makes me think that the Rabbits want to focus on a younger coach for a long term rebuild.

Where does that leave Wayne? He doesn't want to retire, and he has a good relationship with Benji and a previous working relationship with Shane (albeit a bit tense in the end).

Wayne coming in as a director of football would be the perfect outcome for us. He could continue coaching, but in this case he'd be coaching Benji and our coaches across all grades. We lack that coaching experience IMO.

I think he would only consider a head coach role but perhaps could be persuaded to take the .Coaching Director job. I think he would be good for us.
The other thing I know is that Griffin is tactically sound but has had issues with direct player contact.
Despite his moderate record he may be the mature guiding hand as Coaching Director that would help Benji. And I bet he’d be keen.
But I’m not sure Richo is thinking that way, or maybe he is but keeping it on the down low.
All speculation at present.

He’d be good but we spoke to him once before and he rejected us.
And let’s not forget he’s now being touted as the new PNG coach ( when that happens). He’s in big demand.

Yep, he's in high demand, but things change depending on the structure and staff in a club.

The PNG franchise won't happen for a couple of years, so this could be a great interim opportunity for both him and us.

Might’ve been Paytens aspiration a few years ago, but definitely not the case any more.

Believe that 😀

Benji will succeed as a coach through the school of hard knocks, but it won't be the fairytale that we're all hoping for.

If Benji, John, Robbie and Heighno can jag 8+ wins this season, we're heading in the right direction for '25.
