Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Stef should test the open market according to old buddy over here as opposed to resigning
These things are not even worth posting to be frank. Headline says "Tigers star reportedly set to spurn" and it's actually an opinion piece from Brent Read speculating he thinks Stefano will go to the market.

So if "reportedly" is now equivalent to "in my opinion" then anything is reportable as an opinion.

More bullshite written up as gospel.
It should not be legal to print lies and the death penalty would be sufficient.

I am thinking of applying for the Fox sports, Telecrap or SMH journalist role.

" Tigers star to sign with the Tigers and if not he will sign somewhere else "

I think I will get the job.

This has been the case for years. Sports journalism would be close to 90% opinion pieces. It always baffles me how many supporters buy into these things.

I think there is legitimate reason to believe that Read is on the money with this one. If Stefano was committed to staying this would have all been done quietly behind closed doors would it not?

Stefano has been a bit like Haas in regards to always having some drama around his contract. Who knows if he wants to stay, but it's a safe bet he is pushing ruthlessly for a maximum payday

He is at least going to test the market ..he would be a mug not too..

i believe so … if there are no other offers we can reduce down to the minimum….$150k per year or whatever it is
Thanks. So that potentially is the peril of testing the market. There is no obligation of home club of keeping with the original offer after other clubs have responded. Hope we don't go the previous manager stranglehold of waiting and waiting and waiting whilst they try to wrung out as many $$$$ from tho opposition. Pull the offer if there is no respect between parties and we are just being used.

I agree with this post ..I’m sure there will be a time deadline from Richo …

I kinda doubt the player manager squeezes much more out of Richo … I get the feeling that he has valued Stef and that’s all he is prepared to pay … if that doesn’t get it done Stef will be elsewhere … Im assuming they will know one way or the other if he is staying come selection for Origin 2 which will mean he is a free agent next year if not selected … they will field offers in the meantime as it seems unlikely he will be picked ..

I know it's hard to understand champ, but bit parts players regularly leave and join other clubs early. We aren't the only ones doing it, and no one is even going to remember that we released him 4 months early in 6 months time.
I’ll remember that next time I see you bitching about our depth.

I’m starting to think richo has leaked this info to try and control the narrative. My guess is Stephano has been given permission to get offers from other clubs and Nicho has put this out there so us fans believe the club has done all it can to keep him but he still wasn’t happy

It makes him look like the villain not the club

The next time so "exciting prospect" tells us how he loves the club and coach and wants to be captain can we just cancel the contract and save us (and them) all this time wasting crap. Just tell us you're a professional sportsman and you'll go where the money opportunities are best for you - we'd have a lot more respect if they all just said that

If Utoikamanu does move on, the club needs to create that physical presence through a few different players. There just isn't a player like him on the market.

So a Willison, combined with another 'skittle the pins' type prop, will be needed. Twal & Klemmer would be relied upon significantly.

That all said- why is Richo in the UK, trying to move Klemmer on, if there is a chance we could lose both Klemmer & Utoikamanu?

Anyone else think that doesn't add up? Pretty sure Richo hasn't earned the accolades he has by risking losing both his starting props to other clubs.

Either, he's NOT trying to move Klemmer on (which would mean Read told a porky pie) OR Utoikamanu isn't likely to move on (which would mean Read told a porky pie..)

Or maybe Richo has a gambling problem nobody knows about.
