Leichhardt Oval news

I wish they would stop calling it the "Spiritual Home of the West Tigers" It certainly is of the Balmain Tigers, but this is a joint venture with West Suburbs Magpies and without a proper home ground. If this club is to move forward at all, we need a designated home ground in the area where the club has to grow for it to survive, Campbelltown. That is what our CEO and Board need to clear up, fast. Leichhardt needs an upgrade for it's own community sake and I'm glad it is being done but our clubs future is not there. We must move forward to survive and thrive!
Would Lidcombe Oval make you happier.
Then we could say the Ancestral home of the Magpies.

You could be right but I’ll be surprised

Hey man … I really hope LO continues as an important part of the clubs future … before anyone jumps down my throat … I would be happy with 3 games a year …

I would love to see another solution in South West Sydney for the other 9 games … but someone needs to spend some serious dosh … so probably 10 years away at best …

That’s obviously the ideal solution

But at present I think it’s one or the other so we have to be thankful for what we get.
And imo it is best referred to as the spiritual home of the “Tigers” so we don’t disrespect the jv.

I would,nt mind 6 at LO and 6 at CT until such time that we become competitive. Then look at large stadium deals. However unlikely due monetary benefits of stadiums incentive now available.

Well I guess in the short term the ground will be closed for the renos. Now does that mean all games at Homebush or 6 and 6 between there and CS ?
I’m not exactly certain of the future of CS once the changes are complete.

they shouldn't drop CSS would be very disappointing, need at least 2 or 3 games at both venues each year

Ok Albo , give PNG $570 mill and $30m to us,
Politically & strategically smart move to put that money towards Rugby League in PNG.

Besides benefiting the people of PNG(our closest neighbour, a country that was included as part of and run by Australia from 1945 til 1974) it also benefits the game, the NRL brand.

However most importantly it allows Australia to project "soft power" basically significantly stronger influence in PNG to counter the $$ on offer via aggressive economic diplomacy from China in the South Pacific (our front yard) as tensions can rise, like in The Solomon Islands.

Basically the government is treating this as an investment in improving Australia's strategic position in defence of our country & region.

Yes he's at matches often, at Wests Leagues club too. Not a Darcy booster but I've seen him around; I think he's a legit Tigers supporter from way back.
I’d like to see that glangly 4 eyed ex premier “Tigers fan imposter“ at the ground one day….pour beer over his head…

  • Haha
Reactions: BZN
well.. . let’s hope hey ..

looking at the artists impression photo with Albo today … I don’t see where
It's hard to know how accurate a representation that's supposed to be. It all sounded a bit thrown together. They might have said to someone photoshop a grandstand in the Northern end. Could have even been an AI job!

$600m for a footy team in PNG to ward off & contain
China? You're kidding. Add it to the other $368 billion
we're spending on a couple of stupid subs. We're
nothing but a vassel state of the U.S. empire & it's
interests. The empire is the west is on its last legs —
we're better off serving our own interests in the region

Just putting it out there. With the upgrades completed, would it be enough to consider Leichhardt as our full time venue?

Probably cost $10m to make the Glenn Morrison Memorials fit for human use...
Probably cost $10m for the DA and the feasibility study that the Council needs to complete before anything goes ahead.

Pretty smart, they pay themselves back the $10m that it supposedly costs for them to do the DA and feasibility study, they big note themselves for the contribution they have made when it has cost them nothing and then charge higher fees for ground hire to recoup the costs for the improvements that the Fed and State Governments have paid for, which I might add won't be that much of an improvement.

That's pretty much how these thing usually work isn't it?
