Leichhardt Oval news

Just putting it out there. With the upgrades completed, would it be enough to consider Leichhardt as our full time venue?
No way. I think we'll still struggle without the corporate areas.

The upgrade is for a new stand, carpark and changeroom refurb. They had a extended corporate option, but that was another $100m

Good on Junior for giving Albo the finger and Blocker's not as good as he once was but he is about to pat Albo on the head before he rips his head off.

V'Landys is a little concerned that his $600m New Guinea deal might be a little shaky after all this happens.

40 mil or what ever amount they have will not be enough to upgrade the ground to capitalise on the corporate dollar and satisfy the average punters requirements.

In a perfect world the government would build a state of the art ground in the South West, Cambo being the perfect location due to its proximity to a rail link. Then the club plays out of Cambo except for maybe two games at LO.

The left field option is Lidcome Oval as it is on a train link and has a lot land, also not that far from the inner west and South West. Trouble no government will throw money at it as it is close to Parramatta stadium and the Olympic park grounds.

It's hard to know how accurate a representation that's supposed to be. It all sounded a bit thrown together. They might have said to someone photoshop a grandstand in the Northern end. Could have even been an AI job!
Yeah often the end result looks.nothing like the initial idea

Nope. Can't do that. Reminder the Wests tigers are a joint venture. Western Suburbs deserve some games at Campbelltown even thought they can't win there.
I disagree and I know it goes against all the opinions and plans for the development of the club in the McArthur area, but I’d be happy if we played all of our home games at Leichhardt in the future. I realise it’s a joint venture and in fact I was a Wests supporter all my life before the two teams merged, but I want us to win and playing at Leichhardt regularly gives us the best chance at being a more successful team.

Campbelltown hasn’t worked, our nomadic existence playing over various venues hasn’t worked. We need to establish a solid home ground advantage similar to other local Sydney teams and Leichhardt offers the best option for that to happen, imo. Hopefully with the upgrade the ground will be brought up to speed enough for this to happen.

today is supposed to be the day of the big meeting where we decide our stadium strategy. Does anyone have any news as to whether there will be an announcement today?

Mate , seriously unless the crowd finds thier voice , albo rips the ground down and puts something else up , it’s basically a ghost town .
I get the “ground for the area” stuff but come on . People talk about Homebush being soul less , but I don’t think I’ve experienced a more soulless ground than the other week , packed to the rafters .
It’s always been the issue there . It’s a struggle to get the fans and when we do they don’t have a voice .
I don’t know if it’s the culture maybe ? The fact a LO game is an event for the local community so everyone is up for it , but yea , it just doesn’t resonate in the C town zeitgeist . Definitely not enough to get the area to find thier voice . . It’s weird .

It was a three way JV; Balmain, Ashfield, Campbelltown.

As I understand it, Campbelltown exited their share and so doesn’t have a specific voice.

We can build a stadium plan that is right for the clubs success.

has anything been announced publicly from the club?

I would prefer to wait for this to happen rather than rely on rumour from posters here and the media

Yes he's at matches often, at Wests Leagues club too. Not a Darcy booster but I've seen him around; I think he's a legit Tigers supporter from way back.
I criticised him but glad he managed to kick in $10 million from his council, happy to walk those comments back.$40 million is not enough but I personally I think Leichhardt 2-3 times per year is about right. Onto CSS for Big Rich.

Buzz and Ready disagreed on that point on 360. Seems nobody is sure if there’s a corporate area in the new stand.

Buzz - (non reliable source). - said he has seen the plans and says there is new corporate spaces. Read( anti Leichardt ) appeared to have no knowledge of the plans.

The plan is available on the council website, and yes the new stand is designed with corporates in mind, though they're building a new section over the top of the current laneway behind the stand, on stilts of sorts.

The plan is available here :https://www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/Ar...al Master Plan Report - October 2023.pdf.aspx

There could be late modifications of course
