Just read a media release , that says south’s will have a big war chest to sign many players. So they have lost burgess and cook and maybe illas, think best would be 1.6 million , now they have signed DODD he would cost at lease $800.000 , so they say they want HUNT $650.000 ,ATKIN $500.000 , smith from easts $800.000 , on top of Mitchell and witgton and Walker , again how the hell can these clubs stay under the cap ,

Don't mind the Douhi signing, only for a year and won't be on a heap of dollars, just hoping his attitude can rub off on the younger guys.

I agree with Douehi on the cheap isn't a bad signing but I really hope his me first attitude does not rub off on the younger players.

Dodd would cost at least $800k??? That will do me, why would he be anywhere near that? 22 years old & unproven in the NRL & you think they would pay that?

I think he's a bit less "me first" than the likes of Galvin personally.

Sullivan, Naden and co should speak to Bevan French, a fringe player here but a star over there. Why hasn't he come back yet? Because he's having too much fun over there....

Yeah not sure he’s the personality type to want to move to Sydney. I think we’re better off looking at more realistic targets.

We tried to sign him a couple of years ago before he even emerged in the nrl. Some guys are just country boys. I'd target him, and put him up in a house in the south west but doubtful we could get him across the line

Just heard something very crazy today about the club positioning itself to have a very very serious crack at Selwyn Cobbo on November 1st….

There’s a feeling around the league that Brisbane are feeling the pressure of the cap and Reece Walsh’s $1.1mil deal still hasn’t been signed because he wants at least $1.3-$1.4 million.

On top of that Hass, Mam and Carrigan all have recently been given upgraded contracts with all earning anywhere in the region of $800-1 mil each.

Staggs is also off contract next year too and wouldn’t be cheap. My source told me it’s a near certainty that both won’t be able to be retained.

Richo apparently rates him highly as well as Benji and I’m assuming he would see a lot of baby GI in him when he brought him to Souths all those years ago.

I did ask the question if it would be as a fullback and was countered with a no as Bula is seen and hoped to be our fullback for the next 15 years.

Side note: I posted at the start of the year that Duncan would be looked at and have now been told that’s looking like a pipe dream and significantly unlikely. He isn’t in position to talk to clubs until November but still the view is he won’t be coming here if he does leave. Rugby union would be the biggest threat if he were to depart.

Not everybody likes the north of England and they may want a few more dollars to compensate them for the upheaval and stress of having to go 17000 klms to earn the same money they could earn here. Not sure the crowds in England are any bigger than what they'd get at the KOE Cup here - they wouldn't be playing at a park. As for being a rock star I'm not sure.
What someone else finds attractive doesn't hold for everybody and I don't think French had an existing contract for several hundred thousand dollars when he went there.
