LIVE GAME Round 16 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
I said a few years ago that this is now a young man's game. Old players have to be smart to survive.

Which is why Api is still in first grade. And thriving.

It used to be only the very best small players can survive first grade, but now it's only the very best old players can survive first grade.

Challenge the infringement prior to that. He allowed the quick tap and thus no ability to challenge
Yeah, that quick tap annoyed me. Refs basically never allow them and it didn't even feel like he was at the mark and we're all up in arms about the last call potentially to challenge. I get you have to be ready and set, it's just so rarely is that quick tap allowed. I was watching from the grandstand, so I could be wrong, but I even feel like there was a Canberra player still in front of him from the tackle. And the ref definitely hesitated and motioned to stop the quick restart before allowing play on.

Anyway, that was frustrating and while seyfarth has done some dumb things, I don't blame him for that one, it was a really messy passage of play.

Last 2 weeks;
Sezer back, no Klemmer, no Bateman, no Papali’i…no worries.
Ice being replaced as our strike back rower is crazy ! If Bateman can keep his emotions in check , I have zero doubt about this pack , moving forward .
I just wish Matamua had more punch with his runs . Even though the middle in attack looks far more dangerous.

Maybe I’m reading your post incorrectly but Sam Fainu has the left edge locked down for life and at 80 minutes. Porter also being solid.

Really, no reason not to release Klemmer, Bateman and Papalii.

Think Sezer will be around next year too.

Ref had no clue. Lost control of the game there.

For all the forum members salivating over how great our kids are,and they did a great job today...Dont belittle Bateman,Klemmer or Papi because its their skill know how that has helped these kids develop into NRL quality players...
Its always easy to bag the elder hard heads when things go well, but they are there when things are tough...
A bit of respect to the older warriors goes a long way...

Nah you’re just agreeing with me . Who would have thought that in round 1. I knew Fainu was good , and I also knew as a fact he was as sought after as Latu when we got him . But potential - output . It’s happened so quick , to the point people are genuinely talking about how long before rep jerseys .
Not while Madge is in charge . I can’t see him taking risks on young kids . He’s all about hardnuts .
Hence Robson over Api.

I agree, but we are faster, more disciplined, better defensively and more threatening in attack without Papalii, Bateman and Klemmer. Perhaps we hit a speed bump and need them to come back in, but Porter is more consistent and better defensively than both Papalii and Bateman, and Klemmer has been poor this season and our props have been better without him, both in gaining metres and competing physically. Much fewer errors too.

So fun watching Ricky's pressers after his team loses, especially against ours.

Took no accountability, immediately on the refs who had nothing to do with the result. Only made it look better for him than it should have.

I agree on most of your points, however we dont see what the older guys teach the youth on the training paddock that they take into the game...
ITS A TEAM EFFORT,young and old combined...

I wrote prior to the game that I expected a man of the match performance from Bula today.
His 1st half wasn’t good, but he played very well in the 2nd half.
Not man of the match, but showed his class in the 2nd half.

He showed attacking intent in the 1st half and to brush off each error and keep going - full credit to him. His involvement today was very positive.
Also great to see he could handle the uptick in attack while he never gave up defending as well, multiple times he was on both sides of the park after tackle on the other side.

His presser he was short and put the blame on his players lack of toughness.
He also said he told the team not to take positives on scoring points when we had 12 men.

Yeah nah.

Tell me how they have developed them?

These guys are nothing like Bateman etc - thank God!
