Stefano Utoikamanu #241

I dunno... Been a. Long time since we've had a prop like Stef... He isn't worth $1m or more but whatever the market pays will determine his "worth'
Maybe some of us me Included are a bit blinded and swayed because we've lacked what he 'can' produce for so long

The "can produce" is the big thing and will he provide it more consistently enough to justify $800k, let alone a million. So, is some 8% of the cap too much for a single prop, almost certainly would be my answer because a club needs about 6 of them in their squad.

For mine, there are a lot of players looking at WT and whilst seeing our problems, they are also mindful of the changes already made. More importantly, they are seeing that others are getting opportunities, with youngsters and even a journeyman in Porter getting their shot at showing their wares.

Utoikamanu is very young for a prop and will mature into a fine player. This is what the other teams see in him and no doubt Richardson does as well. He is one of ours, a treasure for a prop and we can build around him with our good young forwards coming through.

Agreed, though it all comes down to value for money.

I would love to keep stef, but if we pick up nelson from the storm it's also not bad coverage.

I think Joey's message to Galvin has resonated; he sounds excited when talking about being a key figure to rebuild the club (and what a time to do it, when the only way is up).

Those last two wins were SOOOOOO important.

Did you? Did you really?
My memory and a quick scroll back, recalls that you said "Just clarify then this quote for me, if you will, from the CEO:"

I then went on to clearly explain to you what the CEO said......

But then you, you ignorant argumentative merkin wanted to squirm and wriggle because I had clearly shown you to be wrong....again.

For the third time now you are changing what you are saying and asking for the pointless reason of trying to win some pointless argument and for the last time ill indulge you. What Abdo said is that the new CBA has some rules in it, everyone knows the rules, if they break rules there will be consequences. Hope this helps you. I know comprehension is difficult for you. If you need further help on anything, like medical forms, centrelink application forms and the like....call the Smith Family.

Ive spelled the answer out three times....and each time you simply lie and obfuscate to twist out of it, because for some reason I am living in your head rent free and its driving you crazy every time I post something that is correct. I can see your hands balled up in tiny weeny little fists and your face all screwed up as you read and type........its a bad look for you.
What did you say to me the other day? "Triggered much champ? R U OK?"

I just did the math with Stephs 800k contract he would get taxed 50% so he would take home 400k a year

That’s $7700 into his bank account very week

That’s mental
This is where a good manager is important. Maybe someone from a accounting/finance background can back me up on this?

People ask why do players stay with Moses, Ayoub etc. It's not just because they get bigger $$ from the clubs but they manage the players' money quite well.

Many agents get their players to start investing in high interest, negative gearing lands/ schemes to maximise their tax returns. I don't think any manager advises players to look at their net income, usually always look at their gross income.

As for Stefano, when players start using the word "winning".. I always get a feeling that they're not going to stay at the Tigers. When they start using words like "good challenge" "change" "improve" "prove myself" "leadership" etc.. I feel more confident.

I hate using the word 'potential' because anyone who has played 50+ first grade games would have potential. It's the battle week in/week out. If you look at Brisbane when they got the spoon- Carrigan, Haas etc were battling for their teams week in/week out. I haven't seen that from Stefano. There are too many "off games". I can't see Melb/Penrith/Roosters etc offerring him over $600k.

I am quietly confident he will either stay with us or go to a team like Dogs, Dragons, Sharks etc where they are improving much faster than us simply due to $$

We did this with Twal a while back and ended up keeping him.
Hopefully it can work out in our favour, somehow.
I don’t know if I would have done that? He already has a suitor that he obviously knows how much and where they are placed in the comp. Reckon we were better of waiting and hoping we win more games and he feels better about staying. Reckon there is only one thing he’s going to do now!

Don't we still get the right of reply under the current rules; nothing to say him going is a done deal yet. He will test the market and I'm sure Richo and Benji will have another shot. If his heart isn't in it we are better off without him; however, if he is trying for some extra $ and the market tells us what he is worth then we get to make and informed decision on his value to us. That is offer a better deal or let him walk.

in theory they still haven’t been confirmed to miss the 8 yet either …

Unless the Tigers have a replacement lined up already …I would have waited a bit longer
