Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Don't we still get the right of reply under the current rules; nothing to say him going is a done deal yet. He will test the market and I'm sure Richo and Benji will have another shot. If his heart isn't in it we are better off without him; however, if he is trying for some extra $ and the market tells us what he is worth then we get to make and informed decision on his value to us. That is offer a better deal or let him walk.
Richardson has already said he'll pay 800k max for a forward. He won't be getting any more dollars out of us that's for sure.

in theory they still haven’t been confirmed to miss the 8 yet either …

Unless the Tigers have a replacement lined up already …I would have waited a bit longer

He knows he has checked out and where he is going....Richo is not dumb, he knows this too...so better to close all the BS out asap and move on.

Stefano peak is ahead, I reckon he will find consistency wherever he is and be a Blues regular maybe as soon as next year. Bright future.

Nelson is turning 29 and the hope he is somewhere as good as he used to be.

Obviously I'd want Stefano and, as would Storm and probably every club.

Fingers crossed.

I agree on the $ - it will be interesting to see what offers he gets and what he finally accepts. Twal tested the market and didn't leave (different set of circumstances sure). Is the Jouno speak simply his manager trying to up the deal or is it reality. Only time will tell but I suspect $800K is a fair offer - he may go elsewhere for similar or less if he isn't invested in the wait.

Utoikamanu is very young for a prop and will mature into a fine player. This is what the other teams see in him and no doubt Richardson does as well. He is one of ours, a treasure for a prop and we can build around him with our good young forwards coming through.
He's not very young. He's now entering his peak time as a prop. He will never be better than when he's 25.

Paying Stefano close to 1 mil/yr would be a suicide mission. He’s not even close to that worth. I could name a whole list of front rowers and he wouldn’t be in the Top 20. We need forwards that make over 180m consistently not be a one hit wonder every 5 games. You could get better English Forwards with higher workrate and endurance for a quarter of the price. Here’s a list of front rowers that rank higher than Stefano:

1. Payne Haas
2. Tino F
3. AFB
4. Lindsay Collins
5. Joseph Tapine
6. JFH
7. Reuben Cotter
8. Terrell May
9. Spencer Leniu
10. Mo Fotuiaka
11. Moses Leota
12. Tui Kami

List goes on… (Note: no particular order)

Stefano Utoikamanu's time at the Wests Tigers is set to come to a close with the forward being granted permission to look around and negotiate with rival clubs.

Im just thinking - we could of had that prop that is going to Cronulla next season AFB if Richo didn't pull the trigger so quickly. What is that saying about hindsight???
