Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

On another note. According to Zerotackle Robbie Farah's coaching contract runs out at the end of this year. Does he get resigned?
I know there were talks he would move to a more business side of the club. Anyone know if this is confirmed?
As much as I love Robbie, if we could move him into a more business focussed role I'd look at a Holbrook or Arthur to come on as an assistant

Rooster are contribution for Junior development is the central coast are which i believe they are ploughing good dollars into. Please do not forget they have ridiculed about no juniors since the 70's and nothing has really changed.
Central Coast has fans and juniors but no club.
Sydney's eastern suburbs has a club but no fans or juniors.

Very obvious candidate for relocation, though we'll need Unca Nick to drop off the perch first.

All these players that continually go to Rorters for less money,
Let's face a fact I've never seen mentioned before.
When Teddy left the Tigers for less, we all knew there was a contract at Tigers for over 1ml a season, but we We're told by Nick they signed him for $650.000 a season, because he wanted to win a premiership, so Teddy was willing to throw away around $400,000 a season, over 5 years $4ml thrown away by him for first contract.

But what about his manager,
Let's say his cut from teddy's contract if only 5% equall's about $20.000 and that's if only 5%.
Meaning manager happy to lose a fair amount of loose change as well.
Why are all these players & managers happy to throw money away.

It's all so hard to accept.
We know it's BS. The player would have to agree to pay his manager the same or similar or else the manager would be gunning for the player to stay. Or else the player manager would be getting something from the Roosters or their sponsors.

Either way, the NRL SHOULD have been asking the big questions, because the implications are obvious. Or maybe they just don't give a rat's when it's certain clubs. The whole thing smells.

Been following his progress since we signed him out of Keebra Park when he was dubbed the Hermanator for his blockbusting runs!

Missed nearly a whole year of footy with us through injury but has always shown ability as a wrecking ball middle who only needed to develop an engine.

He's really coming on great this season, amazing what consistent footy does (like Jordan Miller) and being promoted to NSW Cup (ahead of Vaka Aho, Tuipoloto etc, even Faagutu though injury played a part there) shows what the club thinks of him.

I reckon Herman, Broederlow, Cayne Nicholas, Bailey Hodges, Zak Clarke and potentially Vaka Aho could be exciting 20/21yo forward prospects for us.
Does Archie Duncombe fit in with that group? Your thoughts.

Playing in a WTs' team as a prop would be very different to playing as a prop in a stronger team.
Effort & desire to dominate the opposition should be evident every time he plays; no matter for which team or at what level. I see it from Stef about once every 4 or 5 games.
He's just a slightly above average 1st grader at the moment, and might never be anything more than that. Should we get into a bidding war in the hope that he one day becomes a million dollar player.
My opinion, no.

Klemmer has had the same or better output than Stefano since he got here and is also more effective in defence. He's on good money next year, but the following year his market value would decrease significantly or he might even retire.

We aren't playing supercoach or fantasy baseball so I'd keep Klemmer for next year and replace him in 2026. I'd also stay away from Melbourne's 900k problem.
Klemmer has a better output than Stefano? The stats against that are pretty clear. If both average 112 metres a game, wouldn't you rather the guy that scores more tries, makes more tackle breaks and offloads more?

2024 Stats
Klemmer
10 games
112 Average running metres
9 tackle breaks
1 offload
518 post contact metres
9.9 average hit ups
0 tries

Stefano
14 games
112 Average running metres
65 tackle breaks
15 offloads
642 post contact metres
10.1 average hit ups
3 tries

I'd like to see play the ball speed stats on Klemmer vs Stef , but they don't exist.

Regarding NAS, I'm not sure where you're getting $900k from, but there's no way we would pay that. More like 500k to 600k.

Very good prospect, strong backrower with leadership qualities. Only 18 so will be in next batch coming through. Would think he’ll be tied up by the club & possible Development deal in ‘26 (maybe ‘25 if he shines in Flegg for remainder of season).

This shows their attack is similar as I said. Also, you’re only talking about attack, what about tackle efficiency?

That’s the reported salary NAS is on. We’re not getting him for 600k.

I liken our current Stefano situation to the Haas situation at Broncos. I do acknowledge there were a lot of extenuating circumstances but for all intents and purposes still quite similar. After what happened in 2022 the massive fall off the broncos had Payne said he’ll test himself on the market and see what’s available. Apparently all 16 clubs had made inquiries into Haas and mid 2023 he decided to resign with the Broncos on 3.5 million for 3 yrs. You’d have to imagine that there would’ve been some enticing offers available, so who knows maybe Stef will decide to stay if success follows us for the rest of the season.

Angus match was off the charts. Took some angry pills.
He had a great game. Quality come back too after his personal troubles.

I was also pleased for Madge who finally got the monkey of years of ordinary performances off his back …and helped to deliver the most outstanding first half in origin history.

I hope he can deliver for game 3.

There will probably be a lot of interest in stef, but I agree with the club that we’d rather have this cleared up earlier. If only because with the season done and dusted, we can use his spot in more constructive ways.

Team cohesion and building has never been more important with these youngsters playing off their socks.

At some point within the next few years we are going to have to try to convince a few of them to stay for unders and we will want to rely on our previous good will to them. We will need to build the loyalty. I had hoped Stef would remember he was a gawky fringe kid when Harto spotted him and we let him in and gave him the run of the house.

I’m suspecting a big jam for the final 8 with the titans dark horses.

I thought JL was very solid tonight in a team on fire. He’s quite the character, really immerses himself, that Api quality.

I love to see players enjoying their footy.

Who can forget the young Dylan Edwards refusing to condemn BJ after that coat hanger. He wouldn’t testify, no snitching. ‘Twas very honourable.

And a few years later he’s CC medalist and now sublime origin footballer. Karma and richly deserved.

What the panthers did with his contract was pay him beer money for a time on the promise of an upgrade which they then honoured.

I suppose we will need to play the same game!

Young legs policy, forced on us but somehow working!
