Stefano Utoikamanu #241

He’s pretty much saying he’s better than everyone else .. what a shitty team mate

Punt him already
Certainly appears that way. His team mates making him look ordinary.
Not buying into the possible rebuild. Wants to cruise along in a better side, off the bench is OK.
Having said that, bight your tongue, be polite, unless you have someone else lined up to replace him?
Otherwise it's on his terms.
He will only stay if there are a lack of suitors.
The waiting game, but we now know what type of person we are dealing with. A mercenary only, no particular loyalty to this club, the new board, new coach, new CEO and where it's heading.

the ability of the team has been there to see for the last couple weeks. Pull ya finger out and have a crack and the results will come

Turning the tigers around would be a heck of an achievement compared to just becoming another player a successful team has poached from another struggling club

Sour grapes?

I’m pretty certain he won’t cruise if he lands on a good team. I believe he’s over losing.

People are being emotional.
Papa left people said good riddance
They want Naden and others gone where we rip the contracts up.
Stefano & Galvin want a look around and the world caves in, fans bag the crap out of them.

As if it’s easier at the Roosters or Storm.
Results wise cool but playing wise as if.
Lets be real if Stefano went to either training would be harder, his team mates would push harder and he will be driven by the coaching staff to play harder. Sure he might win more but if he doesn’t improve his game he won’t play 1st grade.

you don’t think 3.2mil over 4 years is a significant increase on his current salary?

Man at 21 I was a 3rd year apprentice earning peanuts..

He is as good as gone imo. Good luck to him, I would like to see him stay as a tiger and I hope I eat my words but I don’t share the same confidence he’ll stay like some on here predict
Yes its a significant increase, but when you are being offered a lot of money, you'd be stupid to take the first offer that comes across your desk. If you are smart person, you listen to the different offers and make an informed decision.

I appreciate your scenario as an apprentice as a 21 year old, but if you were given the option of $500k a year, $800k a year and $1million a year back then, I am sure you would have also done your due diligence and determined which was going to be the best fit for you.

He doesnt need to bag the hell out of the joint whilst doing so.
Where has he bagged the hell out of the club? Can you reference this for me?

I haven't seen any direct quotes from him dissing the club. He's only spoken the truth; that we have struggled. He's come to a club and "won" how many spoons now? Not everyone has the blind faith us one team life long supporters do...

Dragons and Raiders set to table $4.5 million offers to Utoikamanu

St George Illawarra have signalled their interest in luring Stefano Utoikamanu to the club and are preparing to offer the Wests Tigers prop a five-year deal worth $4.5 million.

The Dragons opened discussions with Utoikamanu this week and want the opportunity to sell the club’s vision to the former NSW Origin representative, who this week was granted permission by the Tigers to explore options at rival clubs.
Stefano Utoikamanu showed no signs of being distracted, scoring a powerful try for the Tigers.

The Herald reported earlier this month that the Tigers have tabled Utoikamanu a five-year deal worth $4 million. That sum works out around $100,000 a season less than the Dragons have indicated they would be willing to spend on the player.
A Dragons official confirmed the club’s interest in Utoikamanu when contacted by the Herald on Friday.

The Canberra Raiders have also entered the race for his signature. The Raiders are preparing for life after Josh Papalii and have indicated they would be able to spend more than the Tigers have offered.

Sources with knowledge of the situation, talking on the condition of anonymity, told the Herald the Raiders – like the Dragons – would be willing to spend $900,000 per season to bring Utoikamanu to the nation’s capital.

The Melbourne Storm have also been keeping tabs on the situation and are preparing to make a play for the 24-year-old. The Bulldogs are exploring other options and aren’t willing to spend top dollar on a front-rower.

A unique clause in Utoikamanu’s contract will see him become a free agent if he didn’t play two State of Origin games this year or the Tigers missed the top eight. Utoikamanu was not selected for the first two Origin games, and the Tigers are only a slim chance of playing finals.

Utoikamanu decided against accepting the Tigers’ offer of an extension and met with chief executive Shane Richardson and coach Benji Marshall last week to inform them of his desire to explore the market at the end of the season.

The Tigers instead gave him permission to begin negotiations immediately, resulting in a conversation between the Dragons and his management.

Utoikamanu has told the club that he enjoys life under Marshall but also harbours a desire to play finals football. The club has been attempting to convince him he can do that in the near future at the Wests Tigers.

The Tigers’ offer, which averages out about $800,000 per year, is less than the $900,000 figure previous chief executive Justin Pascoe indicated the club would be willing to spend to retain the prop.

if you’re looking for long term success Dragons and Raiders aren’t really fancied destinations. He may aswell just stay with us

Understandable if it was Roosters, storm, Penrith etc … but they won’t be offering crazy money like that

It’s actually smart work from him/his manager.

Some have started all the time which was dumb of them that he won’t get an offer better than ours yet 2 days in he has 500k more offered to him over the same length of deal.

Reality is why stay here if the Dragons or Raiders pay more. They’re not worse than us.

So if we want him to stay and it’s a real option he has just gotten more cash from us.

If the 900K is accurate from Dragons and Raiders, that is incredibly stupid from them. Up to him if he wants to take it but he ain’t nowhere near that much. He’s not even worth what we’ve offered. At best he’s worth 600K anything beyond that is ridiculous from any club.
