Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mate, this is blown up much more than it should,
because he happens to play 4 the world famous
wests tigers. I genuinely believe we're coming to
an agreement. He's allowed 2 test his market value
But we'll get the price right. Richo is the man
What do they say ??

You can’t say that he won’t get convicted when the process is still ongoing, no one will know whether he will be found guilty or not guilty until his case is heard sometime next year. Did you also say outright when his brother got stood down by the NRL for his sex tapes he was filming without their consent he would be found not guilty? Guess what? He was found guilty and was extremely lucky he wasn’t sentenced to prison. Also don’t forget Taylan was arrested and found guilty for assault on a man after Penrith won the comp back in 2021. He was lucky not to have a conviction recorded, but now with the charges of him assaulting his partner being looked at, there’s every chance he could be found guilty given he can’t seem to stay out of trouble with the law and has a knack for violence. Again I’m not saying he’s guilty or not guilty the court process will eventually decide that, but you can’t say outright he won’t be convicted as he’s been in trouble before.
Glenji95 I keep reading your posts about players you do not believe we should retain and layers you believe we should not recruit, but I’m not seeing any solutions being offered ?
Surely you agree we cannot simply lose Stef and sign nobody, if that happens we will once again have by far the worst roster in the NRL and will have no hope of improving.

I haven’t said much of what you think at the moment, only that unless it is needed Richo has basically confirmed that we will be looking at mostly our juniors moving forward before looking outside the juniors. You simply cannot spend big money on a player that is nowhere near that standard. No smart club would do it and neither should we. We’re overpaying for him to stay. If Stef chooses to leave for that money if legit so be it I will not lose sleep over it as I know he plays nowhere near that standard.

Twal? What has he done wrong?

I'd look to add Liam Knight.
No disrespect TheChad I really like the fact you are always posting ideas and potential solutions, but if Liam Knight, Alex Twal, Alex Seyfarth, Fonua Pole and Sione Fainu are all on the open market, I’m near certain Liam Knight is at the bottom of the shopping list for every NRL club.
We desperately need Oregon Kaufusi or Royce Hunt, maybe consider Emre Guler but I’m not sold on what he offers either.
It is getting very noticeable that the forwards who hit top speed quickly are the ones making the most impact, the others that just plod such as Liam Knoght are getting left behind because of it.

You must be happy to sit back and watch us run last again in 2025.
Aside from Talyn who is still a good couple of years away from peaking himself, we have no emerging forwards in our system that are capable of doing anything to improve our NRL side until 2027 at the earliest.
Young Christian Taupau-Moors and Phoenix Godinet look very likely and the emergence of Tim Johanssen who we stumbled across and looks a good prospect, but our forward pack without Stef will be well below standard in 2025 and 2026 if we don’t recruit and recruit well.
The unfit but fearless Herman could help if he gets himself fit and Faagatu if he could fix up his defensive lapses could reach his potential sooner than later, but I’d say with Isaac Moses as his manager and us favouring Kit over him, it’s a fair chance he will be the next one screaming for the exit doors.

don’t whinge to him … whinge to Richo… he is the one making the calls

To a degree- yes. The Tigers WILL lose players.

Same way Penrith lose players. For every Galvin, there is a Sullivan or Latu Fainu looking for his opportunity. We will either move one on to acommodate, or lose the guy next in line to a better opportunity.

There will always be a need for some experienced players.

We have them, Utoikamanu regardless.

This is why Klemmer, Twal, Luai, Olam, Bateman, Doueihi etc hold a lot of value.

When thinking about Utoikamanu & his value- if he WASN'T there but say, Twal was- how much do you lose compared to gain? Obviously Stef is a more damaging runner, one out. But I'd argue Twal is a better defender. If the Utoikamanu money then gets spread between Galvin, Sam Fainu, da Silva etc in extending & securing them longer term...Makasini...is Twal that significant a downgrade?

I would like Utoikamanu to stay. BUT. If he leaves, it's a matter of making it count. We have a decent front row rotation without him. Does Royce Hunt on $500-600k improve that rotation? I'd rather extend 2-3 of these juniors we are banking on & keep the core of the future together longer.
I see ur point , but if u don’t have forwards who bent the line or break the line ,we will end up always in the bottom 4 for ever . I just don’t get why people on here don’t understand, forwards win games , they put u in position for the backs to create scoring chances . The kids are 2-3 years away do u really want to be on the bottom for another 4-5 years because if we don’t get some go forward that is what will happen . When I coached a-grade , the team I took over had been a lost club for years , 1st thing we did was purchase 6 forwards and a 1/2 back and a fullback , we won 2 grand finals in a row , what more can I say FORWARDS win matches

No one knows where their club will sit next season we’re still dealing with 2024 first. There’s no point in mentioning Taylan right now he’s stood down by the NRL and no one can recruit him until his court case is over for the time being forget about him no one can do anything. Stef will not be a big of a loss as some seem to think mainly you if I’m being honest, hell even in our game against the Raiders he still didn’t do much. I get we won on the edge rather than the middle, but his stats were still reasonably poor for someone you’re upset about possibly losing. I’m sure there is something in play if he does leave but he’s been apart of the failing forward pack playing nowhere near standard of where he should be, and certainly nowhere near of what’s been reported if legit. Unless the club frees a few more spots I don’t see much outside promoting it’ll be juniors mainly coming up.

I was talking about Talyn, not Taylan.
Throw the stats out the window, whenever Stef is on the field our middles are at the very least highly competitive and not forgetting he’s extremely fit for a big man his size so rarely misses a tackle, he is always back in position defensively and hardly ever concedes any penalties.
If he goes he is a far greater loss than you realise.
