They would be paying a portion each year for many years opposed to paying them at once.I don’t know the exact nature of it, but this was discussed at length and confirmed by Gus during an episode of 💯 Footy early in the season.

Im not sure mate if you know how the "Rorters superannuation " scheme works but any document can have legal clauses to ensure confidentiality. IF any club is doing this it would provide them an an unfair advantage & would allow them to buy all the best juniors from development clubs like the Tigers . Im sure one day a disgruntled ex player will blow the whistle. Untill then , we have to play at a disadvantage.Nope.
I just steadfastly refuse to play the victim, nor buy into conspiracy theories of cheating.
Sulking about how another team forms their roster is the work of losers.
Irrespective, cheating is cheating yes?Dude come on ! It’s the elephant in the room re. The nrl . The broncos have also rorted the cap since the dawn of time , but in some ways they get a pass because it’s usually paying Johnny from up the road , not buying other teams guns .
For me I don’t want to roosters bash , as you’re right that’s the way the game needs to be played .
I just think that it should not be played like that .

Super league ? Bro …. Canberra were caught rorting the cap massively when they brought it in in 94.Integrity left the building 27 years ago.
If you believe all this, why does what the Roosters are apparently doing now upset you so? After all, they are just doing what our most celebrated clubs have always done? Or is it all just jealousy from fans of shit clubs?Super league ? Bro …. Canberra were caught rorting the cap massively when they brought it in in 94.
All the bullshit Bullfrog used to do at the dogs and the sway manly had over the game when arko was in .
I don’t think integrity and RL have ever been aligned . But that’s the point . NRL is a massive business now , and the under table shit undermines the sport . Even MLB which had the Yankees and now the Dodgers buying titles has introduced deterrents around this . Why ? Because it’s not good for the product in the end .
Confidentiality clauses can only be legally enforced if it can be proven they were broken. A bit like you can speed if the police dont catch you . It doesnt mean you didnt speed , it means the poice have no proof you did.If these documents have confidentiality clauses, how do you know about it?
your missing my point . I actually don’t care that clubs are over . If the roosters want to buy premierships , and that’s thier modus operende , than I don’t care . The issue is the lack of parity and transparency.Irrespective, cheating is cheating yes?
We pay overs for everyone, are we under?
How many clubs do you think are?
and neither do you…do you?Confidentiality clauses can only be legally enforced if it can be proven they were broken. A bit like you can speed if the police dont catch you . It doesnt mean you didnt speed , it means the poice have no proof you did.
sorry, do i what?and neither do you…do you?
That’s all very good in theory.your missing my point . I actually don’t care that clubs are over . If the roosters want to buy premierships , and that’s thier modus operende , than I don’t care . The issue is the lack of parity and transparency.
Like when the GSW brought in durant . I mean they were extremely lucky because thier best player wa getting paid like middle of the range player , because his extension came up when he had a career threatening injury , but I think I read somewhere , the NbA cap is like 125mil , and the GSW team is like 185 mil (you can pay your own players 33% more then the cap) . The tax they pay ie. Luxury tax …. 120m . So thier team is in essence a whopping 300m dollars . Sure the title makes it worth it , but that also means there’s a big reason not too , and compensation for the rest of the league .
It’s why fifa have farcically pretended to try and rain in the man city’s of the world with “financial fair play” … for imaginary fines .
Most sports have recognised the roosters of the world , is not a good thing to have / perception of not a fair playing field . The nrl is just too slow to join the party .
Have proofsorry, do i what?
A couple of wise proverbs-; " It is wise not to seek a confidence & honest not reveal one". But this is also true-:Have proof
No, Gould specifically stated you can release a player, pay them out and only a small portion comes off your salary cap. They would be paying a portion each year for many years opposed to paying them at once.
Come on bro ! That’s just playing scrabble with the same letters .
They’re cheating ! Like how google pays next to no tax in Australia or any big company. Sure it’s good accounting , but it’s also because the government chooses not legislate and change laws because of lobbying , back scratching etc.
The NRL should simply have 2 things .
1. Salaries made public like just about every other professional sport with a salary cap.
2. Have a cap that’s akin to American sports ie. if teams like the roosters go over it , they can but for every dollar over the cap they spend there’s a tax , with all the proceedings divided up amongst the teams who didn’t go over the cap .
That’s how NBA works , MLB , NFL etc.
The problem is all the cloak and dagger , 250k par 4s , 21 year olds driving around in Lamborghinis that no one knows who paid for etc.
Sure you can say don’t hate the player hate the game , but people had the exact opposite view about drug cheating in cycling ie. everyone was doing it , and it became a case of the best cheat wins ie. Lance Armstrong . But that ruins the integrity of the sport … which I feel clubs like roosters do to NRL .
Sorry and a draft … the draft would go a long way to parity in the nrl
You might need to go back and re-watch it….No, Gould specifically stated you can release a player, pay them out and only a small portion comes off your salary cap.
I love the “Roosters buy premierships” line….That’s what winners do. Likewise how we run things is how losers do.
It’s very simple.
Exactly..you pay a player out 400g and replace him with a 400g player and you have 800g comes off your cap. I guess if it is to create a roster spot to promote a kid on a low tier contract it might be a solution. Shopping the contracts is a way better solution even if you have to pay half the frieghtThere are now ways where you can pay the player out and only have a fraction of the payout figure included in your cap.
If you believe all this, why does what the Roosters are apparently doing now upset you so? After all, they are just doing what our most celebrated clubs have always done? Or is it all just jealousy from fans of shit clubs?
Penrith seem very quiet that they are losing genuine stars every year whilst the Roosters are clearly cheating.I hated when Manly, Canberra, Brisbane and the Storm rorted the cap just as I have hated the Roosters doing it for the last 20 years. Conversely, I love the fact that Penrith have won three in a row with a cap-compliant squad. It's been a victory for integrity.
