Stefano Utoikamanu #241

They just signed Klemmer last year ??

Stef is gone … don’t worry about it …

he would have signed already if he was staying … I don’t know who is going to replace him …any ideas ? Gotta replace Ice too
And maybe Bateman , I hope Richo doesn’t try to fill our loses with kids , or are wooden spoons for many y ears to come

2 Reasons....
They won't have that much cash for him, Even now - I'm pretty sure JWH is on a shade less than 800k atm - And he's played a year or 2 longer than they intended him too as it is
and they're not stupid to pay Stef a mill a year.
A. I think the Roosters can find money for anyone.

B. (Given A, not really applicable but) They’re actually losing a lot of quality players next year.

The Stef signs for Roosters for 600K is already drafted on Buzz’s typewriter.

I’ll be very surprised if he goes to the Roosters… he doesn’t seem like the kind of player they buy ..
In a good system and with age people will be surprised what he produces. He’s more Petero Civinoceva than Payne Haas but both get you plenty of W’s.

Youve got rocks in your head if you think Richo hasnt already told him to leave. Richo is big on loyalty. Stef wanting to question a way over offer by the club shows zero loyalty to your current boss. Stef is already gone. And absolutely no loss at all. Drop off a complete waste of space taking up a jersey and having that money to spend elsewhere, win/win yet again for Richo.
After yesterday I tend to agree with you, he knocked back our offer of $800k a year, and he wasn't even in top 5 props on the field last night, let alone worth $900k a year

We certainly need that prop…. Two even …

Where do we get them?
Given we've a few players at both ends of the spectrum (starting their NRL careers and at the back end) I agree and say we turn our attention to our entire pack. Assessing each player's value to the team and what they bring will help determine who's worth holding on to and who we should target.

Turuva and Luai are solid recruits, but to compete with the top sides, we need to build a formidable pack for them to work with. Whether Stefano remains a part of this equation or not, his size alone is an asset in today's competition - where size, physicality, and athleticism are crucial.

Any of the Sharks forwards would be a great start.

I like Turiva and particularly Luai … but looking at the squad as a whole … I think their addition is offset to some extent with losing Ice and likely Stef … there is a lot of two steps forward, one step back about it

We need a prop who is fanatical about line speed, who takes the brutal hit-ups fearlessly, even when getting belted, who turns and pulls the forwards in and directs them and points at them and shows them what he wants, someone who has pride in participating in the physical contest. I suppose it would be something equivalent to Olam's work in the centres. You wish Bateman was that sort of presence for our forwards but he is so often making errors and conceding penalties and is painfully ineffective that he can't really be that player for us. We should pay premium dollars for this prop. It's presumably what we wanted from Klemmer and Tamou, neither of whom cared enough to play with intensity.

Stefano has been here this whole time and has never been this prop. He is a role player and we shouldn't expect more from him. The contract size and length is far too much and I suspect it relates more to marketing than to his output on the field.
Take a stab at Zane Tetevano hasn’t played once yet for the Bulldogs but was credited by JFH and Leota for changing the way they play and approach games.
