Mental Health Discussion

Does being secretly pissed off count as a mental health problem.
Three years ago we bought our dream house . Big house, pool , spa , many bathrooms all the bells and whistles. Turns out a big house and a big yard is a lot of maintenance and I'm not one to pay a stranger to come to my house to clean or mow.
So my wife decided and I went along with it to keep the peace, to sell up and buy a townhome. It's big enough and a nice place but it feels like tomorrow I start the final phase of life. In all honesty I would rather have remained here but keeping my wife happy is more important to me.
The worst bit is I had to sell off my pinball machines.
All in all I'm a bit miserable about it, but this is just a bit of pissing into the wind about a first world problem.
Suck it up and move on Packer!
I tell the grandkids all the time don't settle for second best you only live once you can not buy back time it's your most valuable resource

I also tell the grandkids

Finish school go to uni or do a trade then your life is finally yours no more family friends telling you what to do

Go have some fun till your 30 be selfish enjoy the about 8 years in your life that's actually yours

Then about 30 get serious find a partner and start to plan the next stage give your self to the relationship

Been through all that mate, had a palisade, huge 10 bedroom home, in fact multiple homes in multiple countries, Ive owned hotels, owned business/commercial properties. Ive never been more happier then today living in a 3 bedder and a single garage. Definitely happy wife, happy life, im on my 3rd marriage lol. My first wife died, my second wife....less said the better. Man caves, bars, 8 car garage, all the materialistic shit means nothing. The older you get the less it matters at all. Sold up, downsized, given a lot of it away. At the end of the day when you put your head down on a mattress, as long as I have a room big enough for the mattress and a roof over my head I'm happy. Suck it up Packer, Be grateful for the loved ones around you......insert some cheesy line about a man and his castle and some shit.

I’ve got nice things…just as happy as when I didn’t have them. It’s just stuff.
Losing people is my pain. I couldn’t even begin to count how many funerals I’ve attended, or have occurred for people I’ve known.
Im in my 40’s, not 80’s….it’s bullshit.

happiness wouldnt exist without sadness. life is a rollercoaster of emotions.

why do the tigers wins feel so good? because we are so used to losing.
Good point, and I agree, I think sadness can give you a better understanding of happiness. My understanding of happiness consists on breaking it into 2 groups. Short or long term. I departmentalise Tigers wins as short term, the same as the following unhappiness of next weeks 50 point loss. The long term, lasting happiness is where the real magic happens, pretty much listed on Maslow’s chart. Basic human needs kinda stuff.

I can’t believe it?! Finland has won the 2024 “happiest nation title” again. Thats 7 years in a row for them now. I know a lot of data is crunched to go into these reports, but c’mon? Tell me it’s got nothing to do with all the nude swimming?

Apparently there was a typo when they named the country. The "I" and the "U" are too close to each other on the keyboard. Duckin' unbelievable

Long, cold, dark winters stuck inside around a fire with nothing to do but drink and bang…of course they are happy.
