Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Ive seen people on here mention a lot that he has slow play the balls. I check those sorts of stats after games regularly and he more often than not has one of the fastest average play the ball speeds in the game. Im not sure why people think he's slow in that area.

I can't disagree with the no solid contact though. I dont think he's been terrible for us but with his size and his experience i was expecting a lot more
I don't know what his actual play the ball speed is however I do know he is a momentum killer. He would better serve our needs if he was to run into the defenders front on rather than backwards and then have to turn around to play the ball. I don't dislike Klemmer but I was pointing out that Stephs stats are generally just as good as Klemmer's.

If he goes to Parra I reckon he will not get any better as a player, he will continue to cruise.
If he’s serious he will either stay or take a pay cut and go to storm.

The speculation about his next contract imo is impacting his game. He needs to make a decision now in fairness to the club which has made him a competitive offer.

Speculation bought on by himself and his management....

He has a contract for next year - A well paying contract....
He doesn't have to enact his clause at all....

This is happening because he wants it to happen....
Don't stand next to the fire if you can't handle the heat.

I seriously doubt he would go to Melbourne. How long has Bellamy got maybe 2 years. Who will be coaching him then.

Proves you don't need brains to play N.R.L. Boggles my mind how time and again players are made to look stupid during negotiations because of manager antics, yet players refuse to just man up and represent themselves.

Is Stefano smart enough to know that trashing his reputation by playing at a lesser level than he is capable of, whether it be deliberately or because this whole scenario has affected him adversely, is this really happening because he wants it to, or is it because he is just being led by the nose and manipulated by a player manager who's chief interest is maximizing his own financial position.

I can understand to a certain extend guys like Adam Doueihi ditching player managers and going out on their own (I'm assuming that is still the case), I understand how it could be a risk but for a smart player it could also pay off.

What's the bet Raiders were never in the frame and the Parramatta interest is also made up by his manager?

Manager doing everything he can to get an article in the media every day.
"Totally lots of people interested in Stefano, totally."

"Like whom?"

"Dragons and Raiders, for sure. Very interested. Maybe a million a season."

"I rang both clubs, they said they were not interested."

"Did I say Raiders? I meant Eels, Parra Eels."

"Eels don't have a coach. Also isn't there historic bad blood between Eels and Stefano after what happened to his brother? That's reportedly one of the reasons Stefano left Eels in the first place."

"Yes that's true and why Storm are such a strong option. Such a slick operator that Craig Bellamy."

"Storm don't have much salary cap space; isn't it true that Stefano prefers to stay in Sydney?"

"Oh he'll leave for the right salary, to set up his family for life."

"We thought you originally said this was not about money?"

"It's not about money, it's about dollars and cents, and also the opportunity to play finals."

"But most of the teams you mentioned just now don't play finals all too regularly; in fact Dragons, Raiders, Eels are all in the Bottom 8, like Tigers."

"Well that is why Storm are such a positive option."

"But it's not for the money, right, and Stefano does not want to leave Sydney, unless the money is right, right?"

"Absolutely, so many clubs interested and Stefano is very likely to be the next million-dollar prop."

"At the Tigers?"

"Yes, maybe he even stays at the Tigers - they are one of the teams who are very interested. And they have the money."

"I thought it wasn't about the money?"

"It's not, it's about options and family values and staying in Western Sydney."

"I'm confused, who is the most likely destination for Stefano?"

"Wests Tigers, it's Tigers who have put in a strong bid and we feel that they are on the rise and likely to be in finals contention very soon."

Eels do have a coach. And do you think more about Utoikamanu or your family? All of you?? How embarrassing. As if he thinks about you for 1 second

Bellend has always only got two more years it’s how his manager keeps getting a pay rise.
And by storm I guess I meant a club that’s going to challenge him to be his best if he wants NRL every week. Going back to parra ain’t it, he’d cruise. Staying here or going to a regular top four club would be more of a challenge for him.

I'm fine if he was our lock, but personally I love him in the front row. Especially if we can get a big body like Saifiti to partner him. IMO Pole is at his best with a simple plan, run hard and often, use footwork and tackle your heart out.

That being said, he is just 21 like you say, so maybe he has an evolution in him that results in him doing the above but also developing class lock play.

We have to lock him into a long term contract ASAP. Front row or lock, I don't care.
The way benji has Mata & seythart playing at lock (ball playing like Yeo at Penrith)
I don’t think that suits Pole,
Keep him as a prop using his footwork in short bursts.

I don’t want to get rid off Stefano,
As I think he is a NRL prop I only wish Richo and Benji do the Maths and only pay him what he is worth for the team.
As I’ve said before 900K for a front rower that can only give you 40 minutes of quality each game just doesn’t deserve that amount.
Different if we were talking about
Hass
Carrigan
Yeo

Exactly!!
They're not adding another top end prop to their Squad.
Did somebody say KFC …..I mean medical retirement!

That’s got to be the only way they could do it. Unless buckets has just graduated from the Gus Gould university of contract management and they’ve got some high earners voluntarily leaving the club to go become boxers or something.
