Team Selections

I cannot believe Benji keeps on selecting slow, backline players such as Lobb, Faataape & Doueihi. Speed in the
backline is what we require our centres last night could not keep up, and were beaten on the outside on many occasions creating the extra man every time.
We need to buy outside backs with speed. Also Aiden Sezer needs to go.
He’s not a first grader any more promote Latu Fainu until Luai arrives. In the forwards Bateman, Klemmer & Stefano also need to go and just replace them with young players who will perform better than these guys who have had more than enough chances to perform
but haven’t.

Yep … just predicted in the other thread people would be clamouring for Toa to come back and do nothing… took a minute 😂

Working with the cattle he's got I guess.

(The cattle is bad)

Benji doesn’t have anything else to pick from and we have nothing inbound changing it.

Benji does need to shoulder blame on his roster and selections. Naden was his 1st extension and for 3yrs with zero need to do so. Then he extended Staines and brought in the other guys in. He signed Olam who was busted before joining. He took punt on players & trusts far too much rather than get players that have experience and can perform.

Benji doesn’t have development plans in place for the kids which is clear by them all playing random positions and being thrusted into 1st grade and then shifted back for rounds later rather than not on a pathways schedule.

Benji is out of his depth roster management wise and needs some major support in this area or needs to move on.

Putrid shit right across that team list. I honestly dont think the full strength Tigers 2024 side could beat the Balmain Tigers of 1994. Id go as far to say im pretty sure most country teams with populations of less than 1000 and blokes that work 60hrs a week on the farm and play footy on the weekends for the pub afterwards would give them a flogging. Just absolute rubbish across the park. Forwards, pathetic pea hearts and the worst backline since Sydney Uni in 1936. Burn the shithole down.

My biggest issue is the forward pack and the style of play.

I think the backs and how they are performing are a direct result of being dominated in the middle third and no real forward leadership.

Just as well we did not go for that naughty Flanigan as coach 2 years ago. Just imagine how much worse off we would be now.

They beat Canberra convincingly three weeks ago. There is no consistency due to inexperience and the lack of depth. The measure of any strong club is in its depth. Ours is paper thin and we have probably used more players in FG than other club this season.

this is disturbing ,., the decisions you mention which have occurred after the previous regime has been moved on…

you could also add decisions they made last year that he oversaw … signing Bud for 4 years .. not re-signing Blore … the only good thing he did was not signing Schuster like Fulton was pushing for …

It’s obviously a few of there-signings were panic signings after the player had one or two good games and a fear that we were not attracting any better quality players.
As for our young up and comers it’s obvious we have created a few of them far too highly and have mistakenly rushed their progress.
Every NRL club makes some good and bad recruitment and retention decisions, obviously the clubs always up near the top of the ladder are much better in their decision making than the others.
As far as Benji’s coaching ability goes, obviously the early signs are not good, but I would agree with him that last night was the first time they have played with a really poor attitude.
I know plenty of forum members on here keep stating it is very hard to move players you don’t want on, but I don’t believe it is as hard as what we think, sure we might need to pay some of unwanted players wages to get rid of them, but I’m led to believe the Salary Cal is up around 12 million from next season, so by my calculations we could certainly get rid of 6-8 players we don’t want and potentially replace them with players who could hopefully give us a much better chance.

Can see your point TL but just wondering how close you’ll be. You’re not playing the political game that is modern football. It’s not always about the most logical decision, it runs a lot deeper than that.
I’m gonna have another look at this post on Tuesday at 4.05pm
Remember that common sense is in very short supply these days, be it governments, organisations and especially footy clubs. If we voted for a government that took common sense decisions our entire lives would be much more tolerable.

Tbh I'm not even mad at this team at this point. Lets test these kids and bleed them in cos the seasons long gone now. What do we got to lose? Then we can see how some of these kids who are Top 30 next year go now and who knows they might suprise a few people.
