Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

People were clamouring for Lobb… simply because we see these chumps each week and think the guy that didn’t play cant possibly be as bad ,,, then they get given a go and we see why they weren’t playing earlier …

People will be clamouring for Toa to come back and do nothing again very soon

The only people clamouring for Lobb had obviously never seen him play, his form in the reggies for us was not good and the same at the dragons

If I'm Douhi I'm unable to look myself in the mirror this morning, absolutely pathetic that an 18 year old in his first season needs to cover your rear end.

Doueihi will drop himself to KOE next week if he lives by his own words.

"The more I get close to the boys in these next few weeks and the more I can take charge of the team, I can sort of be that dominant figure and help pull some of these younger blokes in line and show them what the standards are at this club."

"If they're not living up to the standards that I feel and the other leaders feel are the benchmark, then they can go and sit back in reserve grade as far as I'm concerned."

Pigs will fly before that happens

Really sad thing is after 25 years as a new club, we've gone right back to being the Balmain and Western Suburbs teams of the late 90s. Absolutely hopeless.

As an old Balmain fan, 96-98 were competitive. 1999 had some blowouts but we still won something like 8/10 at home.

These last three years have been worse than any other in my time. And even with Luai coming next season, I can't see things getting better.

Need a lot of players
It’s actually astounding how many first grade quality players we have (or don’t have).

We don’t need world beaters, we need some hard nosed consistent first graders.

The biggest issue is having top 30 spots filled with either kids that are nowhere near ready and complete unknowns or players who are contributing nothing but we can’t move on.

Were in a bad spot.

Surprises me that Richo hasn’t done more about turning over the roster…he has been here long enough now …nothing in months since Turuva … there are too many young kids in the Top 30… they are years away from being consistent competent NRL first graders

Good sides need to make one or two top ups a year.We need to make 15. That’s why it’s near impossible to climb off the floor. Also any good players we have will walk when the time is right due lack of success. It is a catch 22 situation

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible… look at the Dogs …

Not as extreme , but the Warriors overhauled their roster pretty well 18 months ago

Issue we face once again is how hard it will be for us to sign the right players without paying way 'overs'.

Almost impossible anyone of quality now so our recruitment will have to be very strategic with high-effort players that are positive influences on their team mates, experienced and very good defensively.

I'd say ESL is our best option - examples Morgan Knowles, Tim Lafai (1+1 deal), Sione Matu;ita etc.

Tim Lafai … 33 years old

Oh - but I though you said the players can learn to defend supposedly!!

When they move an 18 year-old half to his non-preferred side to act as a bodyguard in Defence you are beyond redemption!
A question you keep dodging is who and where are we getting the better replacement players from ?
I have plenty of ideas as do many of our forum members, I have never seen you once offer a solution.
