Where /were we the same time last /this year?We have been told over and over that defence was our focus this year.
This is us trying 🤣
The Bulldogs turnaround is awesome. Rd19 last year they had conceded 505 points. This year 263.

Put your house on it… this club will not turn it around in the next decadeThis year is done but can it get worse and spread onto a fourth season?
We started off the year better in defence than last year. Ever since the cowboys and dragons game our defence opened up which was around round 12. First 10 or so rounds we were ok. I think robbie farah is leaving at the end of the year and thankfully so. We need less of the old boys and someone who has good coaching experience. Bulldogs turnaround is due to a few things. Culture change and identity building, signings, and patience. Like them, we have to rebuild, but ours will take a lot longer if Richo doesn't make any other signings for 2025 in the positions we needWe have been told over and over that defence was our focus this year.

All so true and Im sure the majority feel this way.You know what is sad?
1. I haven't tipped the Tigers for a single round this year and I am currently first in my work tipping comp;
2. My wife asked me why I didn't attend the game v the Sharkies with my 17 year old Sharkie member daughter for some quality Daddy/Daughter time: points to scoreboard after 20 minutes and say "that's why";
3. I have a wardrobe full of Tigers jerseys and other merchandise built up from supporting first Balmain, and now Wests Tigers over 50+ years and not one has been worn in season 2024;
4. I have zero desire to attend a live Wests Tigers game. There was a time when I would have walked over hot coals to get to a game;
5. I am getting sympathy from supporters of other NRL teams because mine is so bad;
6. Wests Tigers being shit has become normalised.

Gould also has an enormous power to recruit juniors.Bulldogs have improved because Gould built a roster of players that are capable of competing and complement their 5 quality purchases in Kikau Burton JAC Mahoney and Crichton. Until we can do something similar we will be consistently inconsistent and camped firmly where we are.
Our defense has deteriorated without Paps on an edge.We started off the year better in defence than last year. Ever since the cowboys and dragons game our defence opened up which was around round 12. Mate, I agree that would be fantastic but given our record of must win last round games, I'm not that confident that we would win the game.We are not getting 4 spoons in a row..
There will be a lot of turnover this off season from players and coaching staff.
Unfortunately it is patience we need still but have faith.
I would love this years spoon to come down to last round with Eels ... Great TV
The fact that Benji thought he needed to surround himself with his good mates says something about the functioning of the club. It would have been an ideal situation if that group could have broken the shackles that hold the team back? It could still happen?We started off the year better in defence than last year. Yep, we haven’t won a last round game since 2017.Mate, I agree that would be fantastic but given our record of must win last round games, I'm not that confident that we would win the game.
Looking on the positive side we win a spoon.
Agree with the thought that they’re losing confidence by mid year. IsThe dramatic negative change at round 12 is most likely due to mental reasons after the team trying their best in matches only to keep losing for whatever reasons - bad luck, no rub of the green going our way, bad ref decisions, sin bins, a last minute try to the opposition etc. Happens every year, constantly losing, despite best efforts, takes its toll mentally.
Second last would be sensational.Last Sunday was the final round of the Super Netball, Swifts v Giants.
The loser was going to "win" the spoon.
Could the Swifts go from the GF one year to the spoon the next?
They were behind all game. Down by 5 at three quarter time. Won by 1.
My 12 year daughter and wife were there and the celebrations were like winning the Premiership.
I can only wish that I am that excited at full time on 6 September 2024.
the club has no idea how to operate full stop. Getting rid of the problem people will do nothing if the people that come in aren't professionals who know what to do. Yes it takes time, but I think we need to move on from the old boys. The Dragons have improved hugely under Flanagan, because he doesn't tolerate the old boys influence that Anthony Griffin did and gets them playing above their roster qualityThe fact that Benji thought he needed to surround himself with his good mates says something about the functioning of the club.
