LIVE GAME Round 20 vs. Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
If he came through the grades properly, he’d understand that everyone in first grade understands what they are doing…as opposed to schoolboy or junior reps where this isn’t the case.
He doesn’t work with his outside backs well enough often crowding them or just shovelling the ball to them without setup. He does have a good combo with Sam Fainu but even this needs variation and nuance.
He also starves his other spine members of the ball. The team looked better at the start of the year when he wasn’t trying to be the man, allowing them to inject themselves more.
He needs to back off and be a better team player.
So Sullivan? Fainu? Douhie? API?

I think Galvin is probably guilty of trying too hard. He wants to win and take responsibility which is great but needs to learn that less can be more - he should pick his times to inject himself more judiciously.
I wish Bula was guilty off trying too hard, that will never happen.

I don’t disagree. I do think these tackles when the defender lands on the attackers lower legs is dangerous though and needs to be stamped out.
And that’s fair enough, but it’s become a tactic because it’s been made into a big thing now… coaches play on this. Just not ours.. which personally I’m glad about.

Stefano had some blockbuster runs today but is an indifferent defender and has a weak work rate. His effort on the goalline looked poor to me and you'd expect a premier prop to be able to come on and lift a team, yet he came on and we went backwards. Probably harsh to blame that on him but He just regularly fades into the background and leaves the hit up for others. Even on dominant runs today he was put on his back for a slower play the ball.

Sione and Pole once again outplayed him.

I reckon he needs a mean experienced front rower to show him the way, was better when Klemmer was in form last year

Haven't caught up with the thread, few things from me:

If we care about player safety, and if those stupid contact on the kicker penalties are sin-bins - an intentional elbow to the head, especially on the ground is an instant send off (Cody Walker on Galvin)

There was a clear obstruction completely missed when Souths were on the attack early in the 2nd half.

Sione was really good, having the players play together was cool and probably a nice (extra) motivator.

Laulilii obviously had some crazy (inexperienced) moments, but signs of a good player are there.

TDS was awesome.

Staines with probably his best game for us.

Last thought from me...

I know laulilii had some terrible errors but he is a very strong runner and has spark. I really think that's hard to come by and I think he's good enough to persist with ahead of our bog average wingers. If he persists with these errors you must drop him, but I think it just unnecessarily dashes the confidence of a young player by doing that. You surely must anticipate this sort of a game if you're playing them so young and in a horrible season you at least need to find opportunities for these players to grow.

I think they are stamping it out. It would be interesting to see how many there has actually been this year as opposed to last.

Yes, we need to try them all in combinations.
He has had 15 games for 3 wins. We understand his game by now.
Someone else’s turn ahead of Luai’s arrival.
I think they have all been tried, douhie is best served at centre, api is still the best hooker in the club… Sullivan has had issues and been injured, latu is the one now not injured… the kid has the goods. Latu and Galvin going forward this year is what I would like to see.. give the kids a run who knows what will happen.. cant do any worse. Just keep them there that’s all I ask..

It’s like adhd and Autism… was always there but no one looked for it… now everyone has it…

The hip drop rule is a farce… didn’t exist back in my day, and I’m not as old as you mate. That’s what pisses me off… yet another woke rule that players play hurt for. It’s a joke and everyone is now sucked up in it
I hate that players play hurt for it. To me that’s cheating. Cheats should be punished.

1 game here or there off the bench isn’t trying them out seriously. Lachlan has had 15 starting games in the halves. Sullivan, Latu, Doueihi all have more experience and have played 7 games as starting halves between them this year. Who is to partner Luai next year? I don’t believe we have our answer yet.

I missed the game because I was putting down a brew - a Kviek Porter. So what did I miss?
A team with the 13th best attack this season and missing Latrell Mitchel, Cameron Murray, Jai Arrow, Campbell Graham and about 8 others like Illias, Host, Tass and Tatola, who also suffered a couple of injuries during the game today, ran 7 tries past us.
We did score 5 ourselves including one good one but never really in it.
Copped another sin bin, which should result in another suspension too.
Poor day out.

💯, but I think we have seen enough of Sullivan and douhie in the halves to make a rational decision. I’d like to see latu have time to show his skills… Gavin’s defense is appalling… sometimes I honestly think he runs away from contact unless he is second man in. Lol

We were in the contest until the Sezer hip drop. In fact, we were leading with 20 to go.

Souths were severely depleted and despite playing with great discipline, their defence was crap. Any other team would've beaten them today. I agree that it was a sh*t performance.

My brew went a lot better than that shit then, at least I got my expected OG.
