Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Avoid Barrett.

Ryan Carr as suggested, makes sense. Dean Pay would be good too. Mary McGregor wouldn't be awful.

I'm still thinking Anthony Griffin might offer the right level of experience plus the history of junior development/link to Wayne Bennett style that might suit Benji's needs.

They need additional strength coaching.

Hopefully we go through a standard application & interview process to identify the most suitable candidate.

I like your suggestions, Carr, Pay, McGregor, Griffin and perhaps add Steve Georgallis, left-field Joe O'Callaghan (Rabbits, hired in Richo era) and top of my list Brett White.

Not sure about Demetriou, could be a bit testy the relationship between Morris & him after last year.

PS. Looks like Carr is under contract for 2025 at Dragons on further research - link.

Staines is an NRL winger and with Luai he will see more and better ball. I am unsure as to why Staines attracts so much enfilade fire as he is a genuine first grader who doesn't lack courage.
Had a real crack on the weekend too. Particularly out of the backfield.

One of the few of late that has been running with purpose.

It's no coincidence that with he and Luke (errors aside) on the weekend, there weren't many sets where we were pinned in our 20.

Staines comes in for a disproportionate amount of heat on this forum. Not perfect but as you say he is an NRL quality winger.
If he was on 300K and competing with others for his spot, getting our sets off to decent to good starts okay.

He was on a rumoured half a million per season and gets thrown around when he carries the ball. You need a Mulitalo or Xavier Coates who can break a game open for that sort of money.

Our wingers are the worst.

His first contract might have been around $500k …. Not his second that he just signed past offseason …. Closer to $300

Yeah clubs have been knocking each other over to sign him since he got the boot.
Wasn’t he coach when NZ beat Australia in a huge upset? Wasn’t he the guy that took NSW to victory after being down 1-0? If you think he won’t be on top of the list for the next club that sacks a coach you are delusional…
