How Bright is our future?

The club continually sells to us fans that the future is bright, how we have these great young kids coming through..

While it's fact we have some great talent in 16-18 yo old kids coming through, I question how bright the future really is.

See the "Galvins" of this world are wanting immediate success and are impatient and they have parents/agents always "guiding" them.

We are a weak club! fact...., we don't really do a good job developing our Juniors, like the Storm and other good teams do.

None of our "star" Juniors are contracted beyond 2026, in 2026 they will still be in their early 20's, have had a taste of NRL and will want to be with a top 4 or strong club if they can.

What's the attraction for these Juniors to stay with the WT?...very little....Our KOE Cup is running last, has been for the last 3 years, so is the NRL side....stay with the WT and "develop" playing in a last placed team...I don't think so.

Watch the Agents of these Juniors convince them to sign up with a better club, a club with a winning culture, and leave the WT after their current contract...

Where does that leave our future....permanetly in the bottom 4 and a development club for the stronger clubs....watch this play out..

Discussing the same topic every year without getting an answer is one thing that makes this group of supporters such a resilient bunch...

How does relocating them help?

Wests Tigers isn’t a prison ….people can walk away anytime …
 
Obviously we all have different opinions but I personally think the future is bright for a few reasons.
Signing Luai is one of if not the biggest signing coupe the club has ever pulled off & with someone of his quality & determination to win playing at 7 is going to be great for the club & squad overall. Only have to look at Crichton at the Dogs to see what effect that's had & that's as a centre.

Richardson has brought an extreme focus to pathways & development with an extra focus towards that Macarthur region which is where we have a real chance to build a gold mine for young talent... pretty much what Penrith did with the whole St Mary's area. You hear all the talk about how those Penrith guys came through the system together & wanting to win comps with their mates which you hear now with our young guys such as Galvin, TDs etc.

Our best performing players every week are a bunch of kids who hardly have any NRL experience & are being let down by their senior players. The best part about this? Who will be here in a couple of years time the kids or the senior players who urgently need to be moved on?

What this side & club have faced for a very long time is gross mismanagement & leadership from the top which is evident with how the roster has been built. As many people have pointed out kids who have done nothing to earn it are being handed top 30 deals most likely because of the fact that the old management were being intimidated by their managers into getting these deals. We already seen a change of events when Richo put his foot down & said Galvin won't be getting released & it was all over just like that. Richo said in an interview that the clauses in Stefanos contract were some of the most bizarre clauses he's seen in all his years as a Rugby League administrator which again were put in by the old management & is the whole reason why we're in this whole predicament with Stef. Richardson is one of if not the best operator in the game for turning clubs like ours around & we have him locked in for 4 years.

Take young LL on the wing as an example. We bring him in this year and his results are
Reggies = 9 played, 9 lost
NRL = 3 played, 2 lost

16 other teams out there....

I like that in theory, however those Penrith boys were far better developed and as each hit first grade, you could see that they were NRL ready. Ours look like enthusiastic kids getting a taste of the big time. There is a big difference.

We will have kids who have been raised by halfhearted efforts from once very good players. How that affects their growth remains to be seen but I can take an educated guess that it wont be fantastic for their development.

Yes, the previous admins were in over their heads and were extremely destructive to this club. It took a LOOOOONNNGGG time before the groundswell of dissapproval turned its focus to them but once it did, changes occurred. The job isnt over however, many of those useless merkins remain.

Im not expecting a Penrith like revival. Maybe a Newcastle or Warriors type one. Thatll do initially, but we have to build upon it better than those clubs have managed.

I was referring to the fact that when we talk about the future, invariably the subject that also comes up is the need to start fresh. For some this means relocating, as one way to ensure the slade is wiped clean. Moral of the story is that this club has been renewing/reinventing/recreating since 2005 and the talk of a bright future is almost utopian at this point, but we refuse to accept this is the reality and continue (rightly and stodigly) to support this club. Like loving someone when they don't love you back 😎
 
If the WT are NOT competing for a finals berth right up till RD26 in 2025, the Youngsters off contract in 2026 will walk…Richo and Benji know this and are desperate…

The people that “want the slate wiped clean” want to give up supporting the team … but instead of just walking away,… they want it taken away from everybody else as well,,,

I really do think next season will be a huge tell.

Like you, I think Luai is the guy to turn it around for us. If we don't see a huge improvement next season, maybe not finals but at the very least competing for a top 8 spot - then I'm going to have huge doubts about our bright future.

Definitely don't see Benji making it past next season if we're not in that position.

Id hope it does happen but just because critter at the dog is going gangbusters doesnt mean romeo will here

Tbf this current crop of Penrith players came up as the second generation after Gould took over and a better comparison for our guys might be Moylin and Dalin who haven't been as successful tho I will admit to not remembering how they were when they debuted
