Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Benji might not be the best coach but he is the first coach we have had in a while that can attract players if he wasn't coach there is no way we would have got the 2 signings from Penrith I think our best bet is to put a really good assistant coach beside him and give him some time just remember ciraldo also struggled in his first year.

I’m not happy with our squad being compared so readily with the Bulldogs. Our situations are similar on paper but miles apart in reality.

Just to add, you can't keep going on about 5 year plans and scrap them after 1 or 2. I truly believe you need to give him the full term. For better or worse. The club needs some integrity amongst the NRL and keeping your word is top of the list. What player or coach is going to join us if we continue backing out of agreed plans?

I think we are removing the underperformers and buying astutely, albeit with not much on the market.

Some decent additions will change results while the young guys get up to standard. We really have no depth this year and that's a large part of the problem.
Let's not forget benji is the first one to draw the line in the sand with experienced under performing players. He gets my support for that.

Sorry, but calls to sack Benji now is mad. You think players don’t want to come here now? Sack another coach and then see how we go in the player market. Not saying he is a good coach but we have two options. Sack Benji or keep Benji. Extremely easy decision - for now.
I don’t think we can possibly tarnish our reputation more than we already have.

Our best bet is to just shut up and let Benji & Richo do what they are trying to do.

Exactly, Ciraldo couldn't get this team to win. We need a number of decent replacements badly.
Then we judge the coaching.
I just don't think we have enough money in our recruitment kitty to get all the upgrade recruits we need.
And not much faith in the older juniors we have on standby. No standouts ATM.

I’ll say it again. He attracted those players due to his personality, however personality will only take him so far. Let’s see how many players he attracts after a couple of spoons.

Bulldogs build is closely mapped to the Panthers upheaval in 2012 with Ivan and Gus. History is repeating.

Ours is more closely aligned to Sticky’s rebuild mission in the nations capital being a lifeless, uninspiring, cold location that no one wants to move to. This only difference is the above reference is the club for us not the capital city for the Raiders.
We all remember how ‘bright the future’ was for the Raiders with juniors like Dugan, McCrone, Bateman (Luke not John), Wighton, Papali’i.
Raiders appointed a club legend to turn the club around. I get the difference between the two coaching resumes is daylight but sticky was losing his lustre as a decent NRL coach despite his premiership win in his first coaching year.

We tried, with Holbrook, but Benji was resistant to it. Maybe he should realise his limitations and accept the help the Club offered.

Ice: second rower of the year. Klemmer: getting back to SOO form. Bula: Rookie of the year. Stef: Most promising prop in NRL. Bateman: Missing piece of the puzzle. Galvin: Potential superstar. Sezer: The half we always wanted.

All going backwards at WT.

The despised Brooks and Talau, playing finals with Manly. Reject Blore, top of the ladder.

Don't blame the roster.

Yeah it’s not the roster. We have enough talent to have won double the games we have.
This year is an underachievement and with player departures does not bode well leading into 25 which should have been a return to finals footy.

This Is the problem, we can't sack another coach yet the one we're stuck with might be a dud.

Watching the manly game last night I completely forgot about the winger Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega. He would be a great get for the club, he would be relatively cheap and plays with as much aggression and intent as I’ve seen from any other winger. Even as depth he would still run through most of our other players.

Watching him iron out Munster has made my weekend.

Letting Papalii go is insane .. we need hard hitting, tough running forwards and he is on his prime .. who can we get that is better ?
Yeah, I think papalii as an impact middle off the bench, or starting, would be really good. He runs out of puff too quickly for us when on an edge and lacks lateral movement for defensive work, but in the middle he is just able to run and hit and then get a break when he gets puffed and he does that well. We have no one with his physicality on our team and he is a loss.

However, it was obvious even from before he came here that he didn't want to be here. I'd guess he's been pushing hard for a release ever since.
