Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Yeh, but we have struggled for a while. And no Club in this day and age means nothing, the team does but not the Club. It's not about individual honours. He can see that he cannot grow any more here. He cannot push himself to the next level and he sees that he doesn't have the support here that he will get elsewhere. We need a leader in Stefano's position and at 24 years of age, he isn't that.

Pay back faith? Please, we have shat on him more than supported him on this forum at least. No one does anything for fans.

If he is truly going to Melbourne, or even Dogs then he knows how hard the training is going to be there. Going to a club known to physically push you beyond your capacities and saying no to a massive contract here isn't taking the easy way out.

I love this Club and if I had a 24 year old kid, I wouldn't want him to play at the Tigers either.

I'm not at all his biggest fan, but I can see more and more players leaving like Papali'i and Bateman,
Then you're exactly the same as he.

Which is your prerogative. Completely support your right to have that perspective.

But it's still weak as 3-day old piss and people supporting him and his decision from within the club are the very people who are happy to see this club continue to fall apart.

When stef signed his contract a couple years ago he said in a interview he wasn't leaving West's Tigers he loves it here and wanted to be a West's Tiger for ever, bwahahahaaaaaaaa hahahaaaaaaaaaaa load of crap, if his signed at the bulldog's good on gus, his theory is sign players first then work it out who leaves oct/nov, none of this rubbish too scared to sign a player cause only have 1 spot in our squad, look at the improvement at the dogs

Sounds like people hate him on here anyway, so the clauses might even be a blessing in disguise,
People don't hate Stefano.

People are tired of an experienced player and a pack leader shirking his responsibility in the side, then taking the first train out of town.

It's not Stef making desperate cover tackles in defence or chasing kicks in the 78th minute.

It's young players like Galvin, Samuela and Pole.

If Stef had half the desperation during his time here, Tigers' fans would have nothing but adoration for him.

Easy option on the field, now easy option off the field.

There is no way Richo is to blame for any of this. Who inserted these dumb clauses into his contract was it Richo? Who assembled the weakest roster in the competition this season was it Richo? Everyone been carrying on about Bateman & Papa being overpaid duds then Richo gets rid of them now people are crying wolf. Pascoe, Lee & Sheens have set this club back years what don't people understand everyone sooking about Benji who appointed him was it Richo?
So who signed off the blore deal , he’s let players leave with no replacements, and bugger all info , and I don’t want names just , hey everything will be all good , nearly every other team recruits before letting players go , but not us

Haha I love this argument. I remember there was a suggestion in the Luai that instead of paying 1.2 million, you could buy two or three players with that money. And yes, I know you are being facetious.
No I'm not being entirely facetious.

A million for Luai is fine, he's a top-tier half and they are hard to come by. But a million for a middle-range prop... no. Why can't you have 2 x half-million props who just get a basic job done? That's the way everyone used to fill their forward pack.

He won’t backfire….its a shame he could not see a bright future being a WT and has decided to leave…this is going to send a big message to the Galvins in the team….the knock on effect could be disasterous….i believe the Dogs have him…which says a lot as only 12 months ago they were supposedly much worse that us….if only we had a competitive 2024 he would’ve stayed. .
Well the real proof will be who Stefano actually signs with and how he performs. If he performs well in 2025-2026 then, yes, it's a big loss for Tigers. There is every chance however he just plateaus, similar to guys like Matterson or IP who sold a big contract due to decent form and a limited player pool, then could not match that cost.

I would imagine Stefano will be getting a pretty negative reception at Leichhardt.

Its too late for a mid season trade isnt it?

Dont think it will happen as Stef plays if hes here but I would take Klemmer and Pole, with a bench of Twal, Seyfarth and a week to week rotation to develop Miller, Johansen and maybe Kit L for the remainder of the year.

Last words on Utoikamanu; he is a fine player and will become one of the leading props in the NRL at another club. I don't believe he is a leader which is what we need but still a fine player. I am disappointed he is leaving but we made him a very competitive offer. We need to secure Pole and our younger stars. I am hoping we learn of these re-signings shortly.

What annoys me is that clubs can sign these players before they actually have the room in their cap. Usually they come up with some story that other players are then retiring to take up boxing or be with their families and then all of a sudden they change their minds and take up a two year deal overseas or go to a special coach on a much lesser contract dollar. Hmmmm nothing to see here.
Guess it depends what club you are at or going to.

I blame all this on Richo , he came here as the big white hope and what have got bugger all . And here’s why we told blore he was free to leave because of his injured pass , SO what do we do trade him for a one legged centre , so who came out on top from that deal RICHO
We then tell papa he can go too , if I am stepho I would thinking things are going south .
Then we realise Bateman , for me that would be the straw which broke the camels back .
This part I have no idea if it happened, but if I was CEO , before letting everyone walk I would have called a meeting and invited our new half back to speak about how changes next year will bring a different outcome. I would have laid out who we were chasing to strengthen the side , little things came make a big difference.
But all Richo and benji have done is weaken the team , I think him leaving will tigger a landslide of players wanting out
2 Steps forward, 10 steps back. Oh hang on.
