Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wonder if Richo still thinks that this is the easiest rebuild he has taken on or if he has reassessed that line of thought.

Hope he is here long enough or even lives long enough to sort this one out, because this mess could kill any normal person.

Can hardly wait for the barrage of crap coming the Wests Tigers way on NRL360 tonight.
We are less than 12 months into the rebuild....
Let's wait until next year to make judgement.
And for NRL 360, if gordy is on there I think he'll back us.. Stef isn't worth the money and hasn't performed.
The Journos opinion = who cares, they are as credible as us in the forum

UPDATE!

Stefano notified the club this morning that he intends on leaving at the end of the year. Any reports this decision has been made a week ago or earlier are false. He told the club his priority was the warriors game and he’d take the weekend before announcing his decision. He let us know of his exit first thing this morning and Richo was quick to make sure our members/fans heard of this news first before the media got onto it - hence the member’s announcement.

I’ve been quietly told that Stefano wants the Panthers move…. it hasn’t been reported anywhere about this potential link but that’s what I’ve been told. If those feelings are mutual I’m unsure, but when JFH was announced to the Warriors. The door opened up for sure. If Penrith come knocking or if they already are expect him to join his roommate Papalili next year, the Bulldogs also have a very good shot but his next club is unclear at this stage.

Any indication that Benji has been given any deadline is completely false and inaccurate. Both Richo and the board are completely behind Benji and are 100% focused on building the club around him.

Pole and the club are in deep discussions over a potential 3 year deal. Wouldn’t be shocked if that’s official in the coming weeks. The club are extremely high on Pole.

Don’t expect to see John Bateman back in 2025.

I’ve been calling for it for a while but it also seems like Benji is going to pull the trigger on Latu Fainu at 13 in 2025.

In regards to new signings everything is pretty hush hush within Wests Tigers circles - however, I was told there’s some serious whispers going around that if Taylan May is able to be registered back in the NRL by next year that we will be favourites. Taylan wants to stay within Sydney and Api, Luai and Turuva apparently have strong links to him. The expectation is May’s next contract won’t be big $ as well.

So your saying after we sign Luai Benji gets 6 to 10 weeks with him , cant see that happening but could,be right , if 6 to 10 weeks they may as well go hire another coach as we will,be last after 6 weeks next season as we have no forwards they are all leaving .
any world on Pole upgrade and extend or is he just going to wait it out .?
any word on any players we are looking at as I heard nobody we have approached wants to come hear .?
I'd take this with a grain of salt.
who's saying he has 6-10 weeks? LOL
Things change every week in the NRL.

have a read of the article I just posted about NAS…. I don’t think he is coming to the Tigers …might he time to let that one go
That’s ok as signing both of Daniel Saifiti and Royce Hunt would still improve us in the middle.
Saifiti is solid without being a tackle busting match winner, but has the variety of a bit footwork and a pass before the line in his game and most importantly he tackles harder than any other prop we have.
Hunt would bring the tackle busting, aggression and go forward we so badly lack. It might be in short bursts, but that’s far better than not at all.
Both appear to be on the move and it’s only us and other struggling clubs that can realistically afford to sign them.
Oregon Kaufusi is younger and probably has more upside than Saifiti, but I’ve read he’s very close friends with Stefano, so with his departure it’s highly unlikely we could interest Oregon.

Wish list or early Xmas prezzy

Campbell Gillard

I think he objects to surgery which has been one of the main issues.

He wants the witch doctor to heal it with roots and berries and a bit of juju magic.
Fly the witch doctor in to concord and he can heal every player at the same time.

Nothing to lose by giving it a go.

He didn’t play rubbish - wasn’t his best game but it’s his first run in an international as a 21 year and after a handful of super rugby games. They wouldn’t debut him if they didn’t see him as a long term prospect.
Trust me, I’ve watched a lot of junior rugby and league - league did a great job hyping up Suaalii for a big pay packet. Lancaster is better than him.

You say a lot of people, you mean fans? Most fans haven’t got a clue. We support a club that worships a guy that cheats on his wife! That’s the problem with our club…culture. Going to take some time for richo to clean it out, but we need good people first and foremost. There’s a reason why API left manly and Penrith.
Lol he hasn’t done anything in the game yet and they some how give him big wraps. He played one decent game where he scored three try’s this season in the super rugby, and now hes getting all these big wraps. He would be lucky to play first grade in Shute shield. They debuted him because look who they were playing against lol, and he still couldn’t perform. He won’t play another game for the wallabies this year!!

Shit sandwich amen

What really really really pees me off is benji could’ve gotten Wayne here next year if he wanted to do more of an apprenticeship.

Benji richo Wayne - no player would want to leave man.

Benji is all ego unfortunately… sometimes it works for him like 50% of his footy career … and sometimes it doesn’t .

If there is a better replacement now I’d flick him.

Brad Arthur maybe. I know Perth blah blah but Perth is not real yet.

The sooner we get a proper coach the sooner he can work with the young players a form a bond.

I agree galvin is one foot out the door which is why we need to do what we we can to turn the perception of the club around
If you really think about it.
Do you really visualise any other coach doing well with this exact same team.
Or in any possible new coach being bought To our Club not wanting to have a cleanout of players, and changing the talent available.
How many players currently in Benji's team were signed up by him, Benji does not apparently have total say in who comes into our team, he wanted AFB,
But Richo stopped him,
So we should not be throwing all the Shit at Benji.

There's quite the conflicting info there in regards to Benji, im inclined to believe he's reasonably safe next year but if results don't improve i think he's dead man walking. Personal opinion here but i really think he needs to step back to an assistant role and learn and earn his head coach role. I think he'd be a superb assistant even a 2IC but the way the roster is i don't think he has the runs on the board with experienced players.
With the May thing i think he's a rat bag but until he's convicted there's a little thing called presumption of innocence. If and when he's found guilty i think people can pass judgment then. I really hope we can keep Pole i hope the bateman money maybe can front load him and Sione this year so we can lock them in for future years to come. I'd offer Pole 4 yrs and Sione 2 with a CO to be inline with his brothers.
I couldn't care less about Bateman i had high hopes for him but he's just too dumb and want to fight all the time you can have your senior players carrying on like that.

If there are leaks coming from Benji’s staff already around player selections and contract negotiations … could be some consequences …dont think Richo will be liking that much …

Bateman, paps, Steff, klem, api - all playing worse under Benji

Think about it - how many players have left Bellamy, Bennet, robinson bc they were playing “below their potential”?

None that I can think of

How many players go to those coaches and improve? Heaps

Therefore if the senior players are playing poorly it’s a reflection of the coach.

I don’t think benji is a hardened first grade coach.

Just my honest opinion

On the matty Johns show last week - galvin says “Benji lets me play what I see”

5 minutes later matty Johns is reviewing the storm game that week and he said “that’s the thing about Bellamy, even if he brings in a youngster, everyone KNOWS their role”.

It was so awkward when he said that, because I have never heard one tigers player say this year “we know our role”.

There’s no structure, discipline.

How the hell can we drop the ball on the first set after scoring a try 3 times last week? 3 times!

Don’t you think after the first one - the message would be “play one out and get to the kick”.

I just think Benji has too much sheens “play what you see” and too much Bennet “players don’t need coaching they just need to feel good” in him and he’s taking the two most simplest things those coaches say and he’s missing the years and years and years of hard work and respect this coaches have gotten that players respect them in a deep and different way.

Benji has tried to short cut what other coaches have spent decades or more building up.

He’s finished man.

As it stands and with the inclusion of Turuva we have by far the worst back 5 in the NRL.
IF we managed to sign Val Holmes and Taylan May it turns our back 5 into one that is dangerous and can be feared by our opponents.
Add to them 2 good quality NRL forwards who can put a bit of fear into our opponents and we are suddenly a highly competitive team.
4 quality players, not too much to ask.
