Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ah..... Tell us again how soft olam is compared to you again?

No I wasnt there when May gutlessly attacked that guy, but we live in an age of cameras everywhere and as a result we all get to "be there".

Tell us how sneaking up behind a guy surrounded by NRL players and slinging him head first into concrete is the hard man honourable way. (from 0:30)

I'll tell you one thing, the victim would've had to be extremely unlucky to die from that. I was expecting a lot worse based on your comments

Bryce is UK bound with his dad.
John Cartwright is his uncle.
He probably will head to the UK, but he’s still a very dangerous attack minded right edge forward. Lack of an attacking threat on our right edge is hurting us badly, so someone similar to him could potentially fill a hole for us for a season or two until someone younger comes along.
His defence is not always the best, that has always been his issue, but being able to worry and hurt teams with our attack on a regular basis would take a lot of pressure off our defence.

We are a complicated bunch. It’s like bagging players for leaving saying they are the lowest forms etc but then begging for players at other clubs to break contracts to join us.
Highly likely this has been initiated from JL who is one of his best mates and would be doing all he can to get some quality players to join him here and help turn us into a much better team.

Not like their coach bailed on us with 2 years left
on his contract + Gus has pulled several contracts
and wriggled out of others at the dogs. I too would
like players, managers & clubs to honor contracts,
it's the right thing to do but it's not what's happening
throughout the league. It's kill/be killed unfortunately
Exactly, if you can’t beat them you need to do what the others are doing to obtain success.

There has been reports for the entire year that Galvin has been declining extensions & asking for releases but when I mention it people on here carry on that the media are just liars & it never happened blah blah blah. Same guys taking the media’s reports as gospel when it suits their agenda tho just like now with To’o.

I think people are taking things are a bit to serious with my question, I posed it as a clear hypothetical which I think people aren’t seeing. I hope Galvin wants to stay, that would be fantastic & hopefully he leads the team in a premiership. But if he doesn’t want to ‘get in the crocodile roll’ as the CEO would say then why tf would you not trade him for the best winger in the comp & proven winner.

It will cost us 900k possibly up to 1 million per season for either of Brian To’o or Valentine Holmes.
Yes that is a lot of money for an outside back, possibly a little bit more than they are worth, but I believe we desperately need either one of them as their profile and style of play would bring us much needed confidence.

comparing To’o with Holmes is not on … To’o is the best at his position … and turns 26 next month .. Holmes is on the way down and just turned 29… no one ..including the Tigers is paying $900k for Holmes

Who cares. Why are you dragging Galvin back up
constantly. The club & him have put it to bed — he'll
see out his contract, 2 years left. Don't waste Ur time

No way $900,000, keep looking.

The reports were "Leaked" by his manager. Nothing came from Lachlan himself.
He is going nowhere.
I'll put an Orange Juice on it.

I would also much prefer To’o, but take into consideration Holmes is an extremely fit and fast 29 year old, not some broken down hack. His contract with the Cowboys is rumoured to be around that 900k mark hence he reason they are looking to possibly offload him to help balance their own salary cap.
If the Cowboys were even wiling to contribute 100k meaning his new club would have to fork out 800k per season for him, that is still value for a high quality rep standard player in my opinion.

I can’t agree that Holmes is even worth $800k … maybe $700k… for two years with a third year option in the Tigers favour …if that doesn’t get it done then move on …

TIGERS ROOKIE'S METEORIC RISE

The Tigers keep losing quality players but one that looks set to stay right where he is, is promising utility Heath Mason.

A Tigers junior and 2023 Australian Schoolboy from Thirlmere, Mason has played four games in a meteoric rise to the top grade and looks the goods.

He moves onto a development contract in 2025 after starting this season in SG Ball and his manager is looking to upgrade and extend him with the club on a lengthy deal.
He needs to earn the extension through standout performances in Cup

It is an interesting connundrum that has been raised re; Galvin and To'o.

On the surface, To'o certainly improves us. His returns are better than our front rowers and he is a finisher.
For a 26 year old, he has achieved a hell of a lot so far and that experience makes him an old head on young shoulders - invaluable to a squad on and off the field.
Galvin has shown a lot of promise. He is a born NRL player, looking extremely comfortable mixing it with players he used to look up to as a fan on tele. His skill set, body composition and IQ make him a valuable commodity in the league. Is he a 5/8th? I dont think so personally, but he could be a world class backrower...I see lots of rep jerseys in his furture there.

Should we trade Galvin for To'o? Its a decision that could make or break the club.
  • Galvin has a career likely stretching to another 15+ years. To'o would have less than 10 left.
  • Galvin is versatile - 5/8, backrow, centre. To'o is a meter eating winger.
  • To'o provides immediate impact. Galvin still has training wheels on.
  • To'o has huge history with Api and Luai as well as Turuva, Staines and Naden. Galvin is still building combinations and relationships in firsts, but does have them with the young guns coming through.
  • Us losing a lot of experience this year in the pack would be a plus for To'o as he picks up some of their slack...something our replacements would certainly require.
At the end of the day, it will come down to that meeting that Richo had with MR and Mrs Galvin and Moses. Did he tell them to STFU until its time to negotiate a new deal? I think so. Galvin has credited Joey Johns with changing his mind, not the club. Is he on a countdown timer until November next year? It would be extremely naive to think that Moses hasnt been chatting behind the scenes and doesnt already have initial ballpark figures communicated to him from the big clubs.

Its a tough position to be in for Richo.
Does he take the risk that Galvin will re-sign with us and not try the swap deal? This will supply short term pain for potential long term gain, persuant to bringing other players here to keep the kid on the hook.
Does he trust his gut that Lachie will go and do the deal? Only Richo knows the likelyhood of this one based upon conversations completed. This will supply short term gain for potential long term pain. A return to the finals in 2025 would be more likely with To'o in the team than Galvin. That said, what is the ceiling?
Does he come up with some ingenius way of getting them both here? Who else could he offer? Turuva and Matamua as an example?
Im sure he is very busy at the moment. There is a lot more going on than we could come up with as a collective unit on here Id suspect...

Whatever happens, the drama that is Wests Tigers will remain the top billed show in town.
