Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I hope after all this Stef stuff has been striving us all up Richo can finally come out this week and give us a name of new player coming to the club , and prey it’s not a reserve grader .
we also need him to come out wth
Pole upgrade and extended 3 years
Ruben Porter upgrade and extended 2 years
Solomona upgrade and extend 2 years
we then still need to replace Stef = Hunt
we still need another additional prop
back row ,

With $2m to spend and an NRL condition that you must spend approx 95% of your Cap, and only a few spots available, we need to sign an elite player, on approx $800k.
Signing 3 or 4 mid tier players on 350 to 400k won't make us NRL compliant.
Everybody is off contract, not just the "available" list. Bateman has 2yrs left and he's seemingly on the move. Richo will have to prove his worth these next few months, we can all judge him in that time.

My understanding is we have slightly over 2 million to spend for 2025 as it stands.
IF we offload Bateman, Sullivan, Naden and possibly To’a that would mean we have 3 million to spend ?
If we could also medically retire Olam it could be over 3.5 million to spend.

I love how we always have a big contract player who we're hoping we can medically retired.

I think we just keep Olam as our medical retirement player, he seems like a nice guy. No need to waste all that time getting him to retire only to buy a medical retirement player who doesn't seem as nice a guy as Olam. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that he's my favourite medical retirement player we've ever signed.

Pretty sure the club can also fill the top 30 with young players and use the 2 million to just front load contracts. So even though we must use the money there are ways we could use it without any visible squad improvement for next year. But in doing that come next year we will have much more to spend when there is more talent available cause atm interms of elite n.r.l talent there really isn't much coming off contract so the club might try to position itself for a bigger go next year. No idea just surmising.

When Richo made Fulton’s job redundant I thought he said he would do the job himself, with Benji having the right to refuse any potential signing.
I think it’s a joint effort because Richo has said a few times that it’s his and the clubs job to get Benji the players he wants.

Then it seems to be for the chosen roster, they have 7 weeks at the start of the year to justify their selection.

Critically, the other part of the program has been to blood younger players and while we are not winning, we are seeing players like Sam, Pole, Galvin really starting to find their feet in first grade.

There’s going to be mistakes, but the idea is to minimise them.

Remember in the interview that Richo said that Benji was much more forgiving and positive with the young guys but more truthful ( ie critical) of the senior players.

Stef has gone, he wants to hold a trophy sooner rather than later. That was more important to him than committing to the struggle. Some players are like that.

But the chance to be a club legend has now slipped past him.

I’ve seen interviews with Tui, hes still amazed at the love and respect he gets from our club, members and fans. It’s eternal, better than a trophy.

He will never walk alone for a second of his days.

I'm pretty sure you're right about front loading. It just means our Roster will have a better 17, but overall a worse top 30. My fear is another poor Season will see Galvin and Co. head for a better Club. We need to give him, Da Silva, Sam Fainu some quality, so they'll remain.

Don’t think he was worth a 4 year deal. But should go well with Kikau
Hot tip but I think he will play prop next year. Has the whole off season and is a mobile and big motor. Dogs lack a forward. Curran can play prop but his best position is lock or second row. They already have kikau and preston too

Wait
That's just our normal hat. Usually you have a picture of a face+Behind combination as your Avatar....

<checks our position on ladder> 🙁
Yep.. ok makes sense...
That avatar is my members hat with Jerome Luai’s first ever Tigers autograph. I got it after he walked out of the press conference when he announced his Tigers contract signing. I was staying at the casino playing poker that week.
I have been dining out on that story for 6 months, Mrs Buttface is sick of hearing it.

it would be so nice if the above happened, but i dont like our chances

There's room for a To'o autograph on there as well for when he announces he's signing with us 🤔

Play the ball Buttsy, when you play the man you can expect 10 in the Bin. Stefano is one of the best front rowers in the game and Richo was visibly upset that he couldn’t retain him. I can understand you echoing Richo’s sentiments but because he acted like a spoilt brat doesn’t mean it’s right to follow him down that path.
The real problem is that Stef gave us 3 full seasons to get our act together and we took away his hopes and aspirations. Stefano is leaving because he wants to be a better player and I applaud the guy for that.
I am playing the ball. I didn’t want him to leave for the exact same reasons you just stated and I reckon he has better in him. Really disappointing, and yeah I blame our previous management for a lot of it. But he could have played better while here, he’s had some shockers too.
That has nothing to do with what I was replying to. You seemed to be celebrating and congratulating him and Blore on their successful signing with the storm and wished them luck in their endeavours. I cannot do that. If you’re not with us, you are against us, and bad luck to you and may all the bad karma shine on you through out your football career. I wasn’t having a go at you either, good luck to ya if you can put things aside and cheer on former players. I must be a little more petty than you, but as I said to Merlot, I wish bad luck on him now, but if he comes back and wins us a GF I’d love the Ute again. But for now, no luck for you mighty boy.

Really u want to fill out top 30 with kids who can’t even complete in NSW cup , if u had ur way we would be getting are 4 wooden spoon next season , then we lose Galvin , because he won’t stay maybe pole might want out . Ur idea is madness

It depends how we offload them - I doubt next season we would have much more as the payouts / contributions for other clubs would be sizeable.
