Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There's a world of difference between "you'll never play first grade for this club again - get out now or rot in the reserves" and "realistically, you're likely to be our fourth or fifth choice half next season so if an offer comes along that gives you a better opportunity you should seriously consider it".
Yep agreed. What do you think the message Sullivan has got? To me it looks like he has totally been frozen out, to not even be named on the extended bench and choosing to go with Api at 7.

Ciraldo came second last in his first season. By the logic above, the Bulldogs should have punted him. All I'm saying is give him a fair shot...the roster is mid way through a rebuild.

Maguire had 3 years...or was it 4? He was a premiership winning coach in both ESL and NRL. Took NZ to great heights. Won a series from behind with the Blues...By all metrics, he should have turned us around, but he didn't. A credentialled coach makes a difference everywhere they go. We got worse under him. Why is that?

If replacing coaches was the answer, we would have solved the problem by now. I think the issues are more than skin deep and we have genuinely started addressing them starting with the CEO and the board.

Add to that Luai and Turuva and shelling underperforming players to make cap room for players that will make a difference. Slowly but surely things are moving.

If you expect results immediately, then your expectations may be unrealistic. I was always prepared to see 2024 and perhaps 2025 as tough years.

Brad Arthur is not our saviour. Flanno, Hasler or Bennett were the right calls for us, but we didn't take those opportunities, so now we need to work with what we've got. On the plus side, we are starting to score some points which is nice. Perhaps things are shifting in the right direction.
A more than worthy retort, excellent strong points!

Seems the writings on the wall for him I'd dare say hes one of the guys Richo had a chat with after round seven. I'm torn on him cause Benji just helped get his signature across the line last year, now he wants him out. I feel bad for the guy. In saying that though we don't need him after this year. Once Luai gets here it'll be him and Galvin / Fainu.

I wouldn't have a clue. There doesn't seem to be any suggestion that he's been problematic so either he's quite mature and realistic, or the club has managed things very diplomatically (or both). It sucks for him because when he signed he presumably thought he had a good shot of being a starting half, but the combination of the Tigers then signing a bunch more halves and the emergence of Galvin put paid to that before he had a chance. And, to be fair, he's been pretty awful when he has played. He didn't get much opportunity but he didn't exactly seize what he got with both hands.

Benji was coaching last year

2 wooden spoons in a row

Stef left to be better developed

How many players want to leave the bulldogs for better development? Hmmm

No comparison ciraldo and benji

Problem is it doesn’t matter - proof will be next year when we lose galvin and the wheels come off.

Agree no one better atm but that first mean Benji can be compared to ciraldo

Benji was under sheens last year. It doesn't count as he couldn't do what he wanted. It's like saying CEO's PA is responsible for the companies earnings.

Lol.

Those close to the club know benji was doing the coaching.

But sure.

This is the same rhetoric when people said sheens was a bad idea and everyone frothed on the 2005 reunion.

Let’s see next year.

My opinion is Benji will be gone by round 10

Benji will only get better results with a better team , current team can’t win the comp now or ever , Bulldogs we’re in the same place when Ciraldo arrived , but they changed a heap of players and improved , that’s the only way we will improve , we need to replace players and not 1 or 2 it’s more like 5 or 6 min , we have 2 coming and 1 is a gun that’s a start , we just can’t buy poorly like previous Years gone by

My opinion is,
Benji will have 5 or 6 Wins then,
Won't be a reason to let him go.

I hope after all this Stef stuff has been striving us all up Richo can finally come out this week and give us a name of new player coming to the club , and prey it’s not a reserve grader .
we also need him to come out wth
Pole upgrade and extended 3 years
Ruben Porter upgrade and extended 2 years
Solomona upgrade and extend 2 years
we then still need to replace Stef = Hunt
we still need another additional prop
back row ,

No
Stop, Please Stop.

We, as a club have a serious and fundamental problem. We CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT recruit our way out of this.
We could be signing Payne Hass and Carrigan and still not be winning. ...

Training and playing soft.
Running out of gas by minute 60.

Lets fix the training culture, lets start training players hard and getting club attitude and club culture sorted.

I think that even if results don’t improve, he might actually survive for another whole season.

And because of the intense social and personal and pr investment in him, he will be asked to step down and a ready made excuse provided.

Or I said before, we might make him a coaching co-ordinator and give him a cosy office job, fancy title but well out of harms way. He will tire of that as decisions are taken off him.

But then eventually he can go back to the media.

If Benji isn’t coaching, it’s not the end of the world! He’s very wealthy, he’ll be ok.

When he’s not at work he lives in an affluent suburb in a designer house with lots of trinkets and modern art.

He has a lovely black grand piano which is also very impressive.
