Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Corey Horsburgh ay. This smells like a typical Wests Tigers signing that fails. 26 years old, has been average all his career outside 1 stint of form last season. Granted that form was fantastic, but he has slid back very quickly.

3 months of great football in 5 or 6 years is not the type we should be chasing.

Back on topic with recruitment I made a point of watching Jack Williams from the Sharks quite closely last night as he is currently off contract for 2025.
I know he’s a good solid performer who nearly always starts off the bench for the Sharks and genuinely comes on providing good energy and value to his team.
I believe he’s 28y.o so now at the back end of his career and he’s a smaller sized forward, but I noticed he looks extremely fit and strong, still runs the ball with more speed and purpose than any other forward on the field and his line speed defending is generally the best and quickest in his team.
It would probably be a waste for us to even contemplate signing both Jack Williams and Dylan Walker as they both play similar roles.
Walker is very attack minded, can be a genuine first receiver style 13 which would be a big help to Luai and Galvin where Williams is more a bash and barge high energy type player that is a big help to his team getting on the front foot with his high energy and aggressive approach.
In a perfect world signing both of them to share our 13 role would be great, I’m just concerned that would limit the opportunities for Latu Fainu and Talyn Da Silva to play as our 14.
Anyway there is no indication we are even signing one of them at the moment, but both have plenty of qualities that could improve our team.
If we can land Dylan Walker, he will be an important cog for our senior core.

He's one of Api's best mates so, for one, he'll be good for Api's morale after a tough season. He'd be great at #13 and utility value for 5/8, centre, backrow & dummy half if required. Plus he's a winner!

If we've got Luai, Api, Walker, I reckon an experienced alpha prop & an effort-based backrower will make an immense difference to our culture.

An important fact in what you say is he's 26. So he's not over-the-hill and I reckon will be motivated to right the wrongs of this year, especially if he's given a leadership role at his new club.

you not a fan of big red?
Not with where we're at.

I also do tend to lean on the side of him being a bit overrated and the implications that could have on the dollar value he'd be after to come here.

I don't mind him as a role player, but I think we've already got similar at a lower cost in Seyfarth (hair colour aside).

Put it this way; if we were building a Top 30 squad from nothing, I'd happily find him a spot. But as an addition, with what we need, I don't know if it'd be the wisest use of the money.

That being said, everything comes down to the dollar value doesn't it..

that’s fair. personally I think he has much to give and might benefit from a different environment, but his drop off in form is concerning.

I spose there is a bit to look at in the market at 13 if Richo decides to pursue it. he’s keeping his cards incredibly close to his chest.

Well we do have a roster spot now that we can actually formally fill (i.e. Stef's roster spot).

We may have some signings waiting in the wings too but we can't actually announce until we have roster spots announced as free (maybe the next will be Bud).
Surely with some of these kids that some idiot put in our top 30 , can’t we just replace them in the top 30 , that way they know there’s no pathway for them .
Don’t know if we can to do , but someone on here will fill me in

You'd be surprised how many people do coke, he's just one that got caught.

stand by your club
(We all get a bit sentimental at this time of year)

Sometimes it’s hard to be a tiger,
Giving all your love to just one club
You’ll have the bad times
And other clubs the good times
Doing things that we don’t understand

Stand by your club
Give us three spoons to cling to
And something bad to watch too
When the season is cold and lonely

Stand by your club
And show the world you love us
Give us all the love you can
Stand by your club!

Me, I’m dying on my feet.
