Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

on Hassett, this screams WT buying the dip.

former Aus Schoolboys captain and NSW U19s rep who was wanted by a stack of clubs only two years ago. hasn’t exactly set the world alight in NSW Cup but has decent numbers on both sides of the ball and would benefit from a change of scenery and a clear path to first grade.

obviously we need quality and depth on the edges, but these are the kinds if opportunistic buys I hope and expect of us these next few years as we try to rebuild the roster.

I realise that none of the names are going to inspire & also, what would I know?

But Liam Knight, Peter Hola, Hayze Perham, Lipoi Hopoi, Hohepa Puru, Harrison Hassett, Kitione Kautoga & Dean Ieremia are all having really good KOE seasons.
I know what you're saying. Its smart to fill squad numbers 20-30 with the best performing Cup players who are not getting a look in with their club.

Our problem is that we have 2 or 3 places left. We have lost Papalii, Bateman and Stefano who despite what people think are good first grade players. If we replace those 2 or 3 squad positions with players you have mentioned, we go backwards despite the addition of Luai.

Depends what you are looking to add to the squad I imagine.
No doubt we need a prop, 2nd rower and and Centre/winger.

I like Reimis Smith. Think he is a safe pair of hands defensively with a bit of strike in attack. Although Skelton would be ideal with his yardage game.

Sounds like Hassett will be the replacement in the 2nd row.

I think we need a different profile of prop. At the moment it looks like the rotation next year might be Klemmer, Twal, Pole and Miller/Johansen. Id like a forward with some aggression and impact to compliment that rotation. I think we should be keeping that spot open - waiting for Richos apple. Holding out for NAS

It wouldn't surprise me if there are more spots available to fill than we are aware of at the moment. Officially, obviously, Bateman is still on the books obviously. Then there's guys like Tumeth that could be shifted. If the club is semi-aggressive in turning over player stocks, given we have so much cap space as it is, we could carry some freight in order to free the roster spot.

Just because those players are not in 1st grade elsewhere doesn't mean they are not 1st grade players somewhere.

IMO our fortunes next year are dependent on Richo freeing up an extra couple of spots in the roster and replacing the players lost with equal or better. There is a place for your best of the rest if this can happen

Yea Liam Knight is going so good that he can't make the Dogs 17 even though they are that short for front rowers Josh Curran has been starting at prop.

Have you watched Knight play this year? He is scared to run hard.

Curran shifting from lock to prop is the same as Pole shifting from prop to lock- makes no real difference.

Bulldogs haven't really suffered many injuries this season- so I guess opportunity is small. But if Knight is rubbish, then I'm wrong. His numbers don't agree though.

I disagree completely mate. Curren is nothing like Pole. Pole is a genuine front rower who can play lock. Curren is an edge backrower who can play lock. I'm sorry, but Knight is terrible.

Nope likely just putting 1+1 together and getting 3. Willie Mason indicated the Tigers have signed a dogs player. Realistically I can see it being Knight or JAC imo neither help a great deal. Skelton would be nice but cant see the dogs letting him go.
As much as Gould is good at putting spin on things, the pkayers know when they are performing well enough to be playing NRL on a much more regular basis and are not being given that opportunity at their current club, it is time to move on.
Kiraz has a mortgage on one wing spot, surely even he knows he is too good of a centre ti be playing wing, but that’s another story.
Therefore the Bulldogs have to make a hard decision on whether or not to keep or offload Addo-Carr and I reckon Gould is hesitant to offload Addo-Carr as he is so popular with their sponsors and young fans.
That means there is likely no regular NRL position at the Bulkdogs for Skelton or Blake Wilson who is also a good winger.
In addition to this Jordan Samrani also currently at the Bulldogs is a big, strong and fast emerging outside back who has also played a couple of games as a back rower. He is very good at making the hard yards, so he is another I would hope Wests Tigers are keeping a close eye on.
