Sack Marshall

Another thing, the longer we persist with him, we’re not going to attract players. Sure, he got Luai here, but again, that was all done over the off season, before a game had been played and he was in his honeymoon period. Since the start of the year, I struggle to see what the appeal would be for opposition players to come and play under him. Two of our own key players are walking out early on their contracts at the end of the year. Benji’s fault? Who knows, but it’s not a good look for him.
Agree. I said it previously but Flanno has had trouble attracting players to the Dragons and Bennet has had trouble getting a marque player to the Dolphins. And these are premiership winning coaches. Persisting with Benji will mean paying overs is the only attraction to our club.

I agree it’s not a good look, but the whole organisation isn’t going to be seen as a popular destination if they’re changing coaches again in a very short period. Unless the club got Bennett or Bellamy (which will never happen) no player is gonna consider us even with a semi decent coach if they know that coach won’t be there for more than a year.

For the small minded who don't understand the concept of "correlation"....

Agree. It shows the club’s stupidity in that we keep bringing in blokes that burned bridges. Sheens, Farah, Elias, even Marshall to a lesser extent.

No wonder the squad seems to have a sense of entitlement
Nah, going to disagree with you there.

Farah did not burn his bridge with the club. Sure he had an ego and conflicted with coaches, but we fired him and treated him like crap with Taylor in charge. Both Farah and Marshall loaned the club money to stay afloat.

Sheens, heck he sued us for his under-performance. Elias, ... yea.

But Farah and Marshall have come back and gotten reinvolved in the club. It's not us involving senior past players that's the problem. It's that its the only Idea I have seen from this club!

My point about sacking Benji comes down to this

Galvin is a once in a generation talent - like teddy was for us

We have about 8-10 games next year to convince him to stay with us

If we don’t start well next year he will start to look elsewhere and even if we sack benji in round 10 his mind will already be out the door and his manger would be silently fielding offers (even tho not allowed to November 1)

My argument is I reckon Brad Arthur would do a better job for the first 12 games of next year than Benji …

If you disagree fine. But that’s my rationale to getting rid of Benj

it’s basically looking at the probability of which coach would give us more wins and what that would do to retain galvin and other players

Galvin is going to be a freaking star !!! Maybe better than teddy and Munster
I appreciate your logic but I don't agree our squad matches up to Dragons for instance. Honestly some of the teams we've rolled out this year are proper proper horrible. Should we have won more games? Yep, I say our squad should've got 6ish wins this year and we will fall short of that.

I just think we've clearly set Benji up to fail if we sack him this year and that will have a terrible impact on our reputation as a club. If we go your route and fail, we're properly done. Of course Benji wasn't good enough this year - man has never coached. He is smart though so I would expect him to improve.

Certainly not saying we should keep things the same. Richo needs to force an experienced assistant on him he can trust and go get the best physical conditioning team there is in the comp & pray like hell that we get a few good signings and a decent run on injuries.

Pascoe and Lee are always quick to cop all the blame, but never forget the role Sheens played. Came back, sacked Madge and appointed himself. Tried to reinvent our 05 style with hilarious results, and had the bright idea to hand the reigns to a guy who im willing to bet never considered being a coach one day in his life till the day he was offered the role.

I blame Sheens, Pascoe, Lee and the previous admin for the position we’re in, but we also shoot ourselves if we keep doing the exact same thing they did. Panic, change coaches hoping for a quick fix in a short period and start again. Do I think Benji can turn things around? Most likely no unless he does an incredible 360. But if we change our plan again so quickly it’s no different from when they were in control.

Benji is responsible for selection and bench rotation. Both are hideous.

If Alaimalo gets another game we are kidding. LL & Willet couldn’t offer less.

Stat highlights from today:
3 hit ups from our back 5
Porter 62m 28 tackles 3 missed. He is a state cup player
Alaimalo 87m 3 tackles 3missed
Faatape 17 tackles 3 missed. At least he broke tackles and made 100+ metres
Doueihi 11 tackles 1 missed
20 tackles for each starting front rower

Players going through the motions. No urgency, no effort, no pride.

I am not surprised players look for the exit.

How did Sheens or Benji try "to re-invent our 05 style"?

Name one example of a play from that era we have tried to execute?

Do you even watch the games?

Why do you keep voluntarily exposing yourself as a........

This is their coaching appointment though. Keeping him on is just continuing on the path they set.

Doueihi didn't statistically "miss" more tackles because he was never in position to make them!

Spent his time loitering in the Knights line leaving massive holes to attack Alaimolo with a 2-4 man overlap....

Can we say Benji is smart? Refused Holbrook as an assistant this year because he was intimidated or thought he didn’t need him. Then has been on the record as saying the job is harder that he thought. He is possibly working with the least talented top 30 squad ever but it’s a fact it’s a hard job and it is also fact Benji never coached before we signed him as one (for 5 years nonetheless).

We also don’t make a new path if we do the same thing they did which led to their terminations. The club is still seen as a basket case and Richo changing the coach after one year is not gonna make that go away. No decent coach is gonna come if they know they’ve only got one year to turn things around.

Yep - stop feeding the morons who still haven't worked out why soup is difficult to eat from a fork!

I don’t see any other coaches getting the sack at this stage. The only one who might get some pressure is Adam O’Brian, and I wouldn’t exactly be looking at him to replace our current coach when he’s not doing that well himself the whole time he’s been the Knights coach. He’d do better at some things then Benji would, but he’s never set the Knights on fire the whole time he’s coached them.
He's definitely not the one..

I'm just glad Richo is making the calls now. The timing will be very interesting
Already he’s already made a similar decision of the old admin of our home ground situation of having 4 different stadiums as our home games. To be clear I’m not calling his head for it but he really didn’t put his foot down on it. There’s really no way the club will not be criticised for sacking another coach again if it happened. Only way they might’ve been safe is if we went the whole year without a win. Be honest do you expect a decent coach to come in if Benji got sacked after this season is finished by looking for a 5th head coach in a 4 year period?
