Sack Marshall

Geeze, the knives are out for Benji?
Admittedly he’s had almost 2 seasons now to change the roster and coach his stamp on the team.
It’s not producing wins though. Did anyone really believe we were finals bound before the start of this season?
I would love to see Maguire with this roster, if he had stayed on and signed more players like Api, Stef and Papi we would be in the top 8 now. But we’re not!
We’re climbing a mountain here, why keep starting from the foot?? It’s never made sense to me.
We need to stick with Benji and stay on track.
I never wanted Benji from his announcement but c’mon? He’s halfway up the mountain!!! The club needs to show some leadership and support for a change!
Halfway up the mountain? We’ve been at the foot of it for the past 3 years

When we dont win with Luai here, the drums will be deafening.
I can hear the drums now Fernando.

We all know the excuses for next year are currently being selected for public consumption unless we can procure the services of additional sub-or genuine marquee.

Relying on Benji to keep up the tempo appears to be a forlorn hope, not many are marching to his beat as it is.

He’s the breakdancer of coaches I fear.

This whole season should be obliterated. Perhaps some aliens can arrive, use a time machine and give us another go…..

Then again, maybe not.

Those talking about Benji stepping back willingly are kidding themselves
Benji would never have taken the deal if he wasn't gonna be head coach

Benjis wages are being paid by a sponsor, who is a friend of his and I think it was an added incentive for his initial tenure.

We need to otherwise face the horrifying conclusion that for all of their good work hb and Richo made a grave error of judgment in retaining him.

Then again, no Benji, no Luai.

It’s been a price we have been prepared to pay.

It may be to our advantage to surreptitiously drive a wedge between them and then be in a position to have to let our coach go.

A few leaks here and there of the kind that estranged Bateman and Ricky.

Little things here and there in the press about Luai second fiddling. Something unkind attributable to Benji or someone in his close circle.

Hopefully Richo has thought about it.

Sacking coaches has been real successful eh?

What Richo has been trying to do, offload the "deadwood" is the right direction in my opinion.

Klemmer, Papalli'i, Douhei, Seezer, Sullivan have not performed at 1st grade level. Stef has switched off...too busy thinking of his luxury Jayco caravan, Car Sales Audi & Haines Hunter boat he's going to get at the Storm.
Our backline at its strongest can be very competitive.....most of them are kids and they are building nicely.
With some decent forward signings, Luai & Turuva coming next year & the young guys getting plenty of experience a bit earlier than optimal and there's the basis of a competitive team.

You can't coach effort, something some of our "marquee" players have sorely lacked for the last two seasons.
I don't believe we are off loading Adam Doueihi, heck we renewed him... Sure a cheapie, but a cheapie who near refuses to tackle.

Papalli'i gave up, why?? Sezer/sullivan is surplus to requirements... Klemmer is basically a keep because he is the only big name front rower left, and that is scary. In short, our forwards were at the strongest they have been in a very long while and now it's basically Klemmer and maybe Bateman next year and that's scary.

We can't coach effort, we can train for GRIT! We haven't had a gritty side since Cleary coached us and really even before that. Benji needs to go and we need to be far more ruthless till we get people wanting to play, but our club needs to train them right.

Our training sucks and we need to address that. Anyone got Brad Arthur's number?

Yep. Some of our teenagers and other young guys are getting an education they would not be getting in reserve grade or Flegg elsewhere. Short term pain.
This is true. The only way to have experience is to get it.

Unfortunately, the whole club including the coach is that green we have to ride it out. A lot of pressure on Luai next year but I think he wil be the difference.

What coach would come now knowing that benji theoretically has only had one year
We need to stick solid imo until at least mid season next year
I see green shoots
In all honesty what coach would expect to win with some of the teams we’ve listed this year
He’s had 2 years and they were both spoons.
I don’t think it’s the best move to dump him personally for aesthetic reasoning but he does deserve it based upon performance.

How does that not work….
Negligent professional behaviour - you could argue that leaving him as head coach is exactly that.

Edit - hiring 3 x mates with zero coaching experience to be out coaches IS exactly that.,.
"professional" applies to specific professions which are regulated...

Ignorance may be bliss to some - but it's not a virtue!

Don’t know about Panic Bandwagon i would name it the Reality Wagon.
And I couldn’t agree with your take on if we didn’t have Doueihi we would have won.
He has a lot of help from his teammates in losing games.
Watch the game again...

NO team can defend for 80 minutes one man short - which is what this overrated bum effectively created on every Knights attacking opportunity!

There is no 'I' in team - but two in Doueihi - and four in "narcissistic incompetent cretin"

I have to agree with this. That was my take during the live game. Couldn't sleep tonight and watched the game again. Imo, 5 of their tries came directly from his bad defensive decisions.

The try at 12 minutes in, Douhi is jogging behind Frizell who takes the pass and crashes over the line. If he sprints to keep up, he could have taken Frizell down as soon as he catches the ball.

In the try in the 20th minute, he's way out of the line but not putting pressure on anyone because the attacking line is so deep. Since he's so far out of the line, it drags Alaimalo up and makes for an easy heads up play to kick over the top to the wing.

The try in the 30th minute is another bad read. He jams in again, this time it looks like he's covering Frizell, but he basically pushes across in front of Galvin who already has Frizel covered. That creates an overlap and there's not much Alaimalo can do.

The try on half time, he slides in after Galvin comes out of the line but appears to only have eyes for Gagai. It's as if he's taken by surprise that Ponga catches the ball behind Gagai. In any other game, Ponga knocks on at that point, but Douhi should have been ready to cover the player out the back. Special shout out here to Seyfarth as he's the only player in the defensive line who comes across to attempt to cover the play and doesn't give up.

The try in the 55th minute looks like Douhi only has eyes for Frizell and doesn't see how deep the attackers are standing or that Ponga is lurking around the back. Galvin has Frizell covered again and Douhi is left in no man's land and its 3 on 1 for Alaimalo. To top it off, Douhi stops in the line and has no urgency to get back.

Part of my issue is that Benji should have taken him aside at half time and told him to slide rather than jam in. Since he kept doing it in the second half, I can only assume that either Benji said nothing to him, ir he ignored the direction.

Sorry for the long post. Had to get it off my chest.

Try watching it every week with my acute lens champ!!

It is NOT just this game - and my partner who never watched rugby league until 4 years ago can't help seeing it every time now too... she even points it out to me when I come in back from an anger smoke!!

She learned from me pointing out Nofa also doing the same thing every fricking game!

Nofa lasted THREE games in the ESL for minus 7 tries - and 3 losses!! "our greatest try scorer" FFS!!

Doueihi wouldn't last any longer in ESL either!

Even worse with Doueihi - when he actually is in a position to make a tackle - he is as useless as a Hills Hoist in strong winds...

And less than zero effort to turn & chase to cover his error...

Just look at the ground Galvin covers to make up for the prick by comparison...

And some imbeciles ON THIS FORUM think Bula - Galvin and Alaiamolo are poor defenders...

Good post. Factual review, a nice change on here where personal opinion rules.
