Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I call it realistic and we can do better. We acquired S. Fainu and I am sure there are other good young forwards in good systems behind the NRL players looking for an opportunity. The young Panther's forward who has been linked to us, Hassett, is an example.
Hassett has the same manager as Skelton - Aria, Matt Desira - also manages Sezer, Mason & Benji. Just sayin!

There's alot to be excited about from an attacking perspective. He doesn't look the quickest but also not a dud. He is the type of winger we need returning the ball on 5th tackle to get the set going. He also looks to be able to create something from nothing, which is something we desperately need.

Defence?
He is pretty quick for a big bloke, made a big break down the wing in his last NRL match. Also made some big tackles, plenty of upside with him, too bad we didn’t hang on to Tupou to play on the other wing

We didn’t let 3 forwards go, we offered Stef an absolute bomb to stay, more than any other club were offering. Bateman still says he is coming back, not sure what the thought process was with Ice though.
We created this problem.
2 of them were still under contracts and the young prop has never been coached to get the best out of him.

Thats correct.

6 months between now and next season. Plenty of time to add forwards and for once we are making signings that make sense.

The days of needing a winger and the club announcing a 31 year old lock seem to be over.

I dont think our lack of forward depth is being ignored, we are just silently operating in the background. It's refreshingly professional from the club.

He wasn’t just a pillow, his handling errors and penalties were terrible. His mind was well off his game. Good on him if he turned it around.
I watched him when the Bulldogs NSW Cupbteam played on Foxtel about 3-4 weeks back and surprising to me he played very well.
He was running the ball strongly, the opposition found it very difficult putting him to ground, he was offloading regularly and his pass g before the line was crisp.
Based on that game I’d say he still has NRL quality left in him, but he’s pushing 30, has been injury prone and inconsistent, therefore he would only be entitled to fringe player money,
When I look at roster for 2025 we really don’t have top 30 middle forward fringe player availability if we re-sign Sione Fainu which I am hoping we do.
At best we might create space for a good quality starting prop, a 13, an edge forward and another outside back.

Great attack, less than average defence.
