Could make quite an argument that the like of
Staines
Seyfarth
Twal Maybe
Don't make the 17 in a good side..

Not making the 17 for a good side and not being a first grader are 2 very different things. This week...

There was an old saying you are not classified as a first grader until you have played 50 games in that grade. Not making the 17 for a good side and not being a first grader are 2 very different things.
Staines, Twal and Seyfarth are all first graders. Tupou has been headhunted by a rival first grade franchise. He is also regarded as a first grader. Sione is well on the way to becoming a first grader. The rest you have named are injury fill ins and not regulars yet.
Only two of those guys have proven they are long term first graders though. Not saying the others won’t be, but there’s no evidence yet.Galvin is a very exciting prospect.
But so are Bula, Large, Makasini, Latu Fainu & Da Silva.
I know the general consensus will be we can't lose ANY of these players, and ideally, that is true. But with so many quality halves coming to the end of their careers, and with Luai joining our squad- I can see a world where Galvin is tempted away.
And as bad as that would be- if we can hold the others from that list, I think the Tigers are better than fine.
When Tucker & the likes question if Galvin is the future at 5/8, keeping in mind that Large looks like an outstanding prospect & Latu Fainu is so highly regarded that the club signed him on decent money to come over DESPITE Galvin being on the roster already, I think it's a fair question to ask. No doubt Galvin is a great prospect. But I'm not convinced he's in the top 2 halves prospects at the club.
Guess it depends on how you define a first grader. Not making the 17 for a good side and not being a first grader are 2 very different things.

Benji had the speed and step .....things Galvin doesn't have at the momentGalvin is better than Benji is as a player and he will become one of the greats.
Benji wasn’t consistent his whole career
One great pass - two terrible passes
One great kick - one run on 5th play in our half
Galvin is already showing more maturity than Benji was
Benji as a kid was good bc he had Scott prince and was dynamite that first year
But galvin will out play him over a whole career - just my thoughts
Those 3 may have played plenty of First Grade, But on Current Form .Guess it depends on how you define a first grader.
You’re off your head mate
Benji was only good enough to get us into the finals 3 times in what, 12 seasons?? He was a rocks or diamonds player, which over the course of a season isn't good enough. He'll win you some games and lose you others.Galvin is better than Benji is as a player and he will become one of the greats.

I never thought of JT and Gutho as similar. Yet I see what Gutho does and what Galvin does and I see the similarity.Said it before.....
I don't know he'll get close to the level of,
But he really reminds me of Jonathan Thurston....
He's Everywhere, In Everything, All of the Time....
Gutherson has it as well, although from a different position - If he were in the Front line he'd be similar....
That sort of Tenacity is very rare, I can't really think of anyone outside
JT and Gutho in recent times I've seen it....
As I Said,
Lachie may not get to the level of JT (Or even Gutho) And that's fine....
But it won't be from lack of effort!!
- That kid (If he sticks around) could single handedly drag us off the bottom of the ladder....
He's already dragging them around as an 18 yr old Rookie.
Franchise Player.
Great post.Galvin is a very exciting prospect.

Sezer would also struggle to make the top side of any other club at this stage of his career. This week...

So who are the top 2 , it can’t be anyone playing in NSW cup , for a kid in his 1st year playing behind a headshit pack I think he is so far in front of anyone else at our clubGalvin is a very exciting prospect.
But so are Bula, Large, Makasini, Latu Fainu & Da Silva.

In my mind, a first grader is someone who’s bad game is a 7/10. They always play consistently even when the team is performing poorly. I think we have 7-8 first graders at our club and some young players trending that way. Those 3 may have played plenty of First Grade, But on Current Form .
- Would be Players 17-24 at most other clubs....
Which spot are Twal, Seyfarth and Staines taking in the Roosters side this week?
over
Tupou
Young
JWH
Collins
Crichton Radley Butcher
Bench
Smith

May....
I'm not picking any of them over that list....
looked at a few other team lists, Much the same result....
100%… benji has the best highlight reel of any player in history by so far it’s not funny!I don’t usually weigh in on comparisons between past and present players, however, for what it’s worth I think if they were competing for best highlights reel, Benji wins hands down. As for who I would prefer in my team at the same age? Galvin.
Agreed but He’s not that player … cooper cronk didn’t have a step … Munster doesn’t have a wild step. But I know who I’d prefer if I was picking a teamBenji had the speed and step .....things Galvin doesn't have at the moment
Benji = 3 finals appearances in 12 yearsSurely this comment is a gee up ? 😄 🤣 same Benji that's form got us to the GF in 2005 who had one of the most memorable moments in a grand final that we won ? Same Benji that debut for the kiwis at 20 and played over 30 tests, same Benji who led them to a 2008 world cup victory against Aus , against 5 future immortals in Smith, slater, Thurston, Lockyer and Inglis . Same Benji that won the golden boot in 2010 , same Benji who's played over 340 nrl games who's being inducted into the hall of fame this week . Benji is top 5 5/8 in the NRL era, I could argue top 3 behind Lockyer and Fittler and maybe munster maybe. I like Galvin but he's got a long long way to go before you start saying his better 🤣 you could be right but we can revisit this comment in 15 years and see who was right 😆
Benji won at 50% almost his whole career. Injuries cost him finals appearances, not his ability.Benji = 3 finals appearances in 12 years
Best highlights of any player bar none
Best 5/8 if he had a solid team and half back around him
Could he carry a team and manage a game plan ? No he couldn’t hence why we made 3 finals in 12 years
And yes just my opinion
If I had a choice between Benji as my dominant half for 10 yrs or galvin I’d take galvin
lol. You’re cooked. We don’t know what we have haha.Galvin is a very exciting prospect.

lol. He was inconsistent dude - like anyone could see that.Benji won at 50% almost his whole career. Injuries cost him finals appearances, not his ability.
