Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

This is the most significant point by miles. We all obsess about free agent signings but if competent clubs like Penrith start mining "our" junior nursery we might as well pack up and move to Christchurch.
It is an issue. The Pathways' team has been outstanding in identifying and signing the best of our young talent. We need continuous improvement in this area including additional resources because the importance of junior talent to our club was on display in the NRL game.

With Horsburgh and Bird being played out in the media you can pretty much guarantee WT will not sign them (per Richo’s previous comments on player negotiations).
So any reporter can say ,OH the tigers are looking at xxx , then we just say sorry we can’t sign that bloke , have that as ur high horse u won’t be signing any one , it’s one way of still sitting at the bottom of the pack

It’s the player manager talking to the media part and Richo’s previous comments on same.
Good to see you woke up happy after our win last night.

Couldn't score points to save ourselves earlier in the season. Now we seem to be scoring big points on a semi-regular basis. What's encouraging is it is being done with a bunch of players out injured.

Hopefully we can make it 7 wins for the year against Parra and avoid the spoon.

Some positive signs from our younger players, albeit with the errors that come with promoting youth.

Over joyed , just saying u just can’t have a one rule policy, yes if it comes from ur camp , but u can’t expect to have everyone else outside ur organisation to do the same , it’s just commonsense

Before we sign any externals, we MUST resign Pole and Sione Fainu… both are gun forwards

Be surprised if Fainu leaves, the boys look very happy and are helping each other develop. But he needs to stay. Can see a difference in the middle when he is on.

Pole I’m not convinced about, Storm want him but it’s up to Richo to close the deal out.

Hope it doesn’t go the same way as Stepo then , wonder way it’s taking so long , u would have thought it would have been done months ago

I thought our attack and defence improved when Klemmer was off and to a lesser degree [defence wise] when Stef was off.
Fact or imagined? Anyone else pick up on that?

IMO he is getting better, in particular his defence. More head on tackles.
Faatape is like a 75% tackler meaning he misses 1 in 4 tackles. that's a real problem when your a solo defender out wide. If he improves that he has a bucket tonne of potential. Like many have said a full preseason and a body build up and that could change. But I don't think he can be a first choice for us if we are serious until his defence is fixed.

Faataape is a player , first season in a new completion, structure etc. give him an off season, I will bet my left nut he will be very good for us. Relax.
I think based on how he's improved this last month that he's now well ahead of To'a, Naden and Feledy on the depth chart.

given the lack of spots I don't think we're going to be able to give him a top 30 deal, but I'm hopeful he'll repay the faith we had in him by giving him a full-time deal and he takes another year as a development player before moving into the top 30 come 2026.
