The rumoured players aren’t worth getting into bidding wars, which Richo would understand.

He said on SEN today they know they need two forwards and an outside back to play with one of the best spines in the comp. That’s a pretty easy sell in my opinion.

I’m operating on the assumption Bateman won’t get better money anywhere and also believe his skill set is ok among better players. Going off his international form anyway.

Imo they should talk to lots that are available. It’s all about building a relationship with players even if you don’t need or want them.
Later down the track things might change
Phil Gould has been doing this for a long time and that is another reason he’s respected by players

This is just smart business and hope we do the same, all the time. Recruitment isn’t a seasonal thing. Ongoing, always, like culture, values etc

Richo was super honest publicly on this.

Bateman needs to decide whether he’s up for a rebuild (crocodile roll). He was very obviously frustrated with playing in a side with a lot of kids learning their trade. Next year it’s probably easier but certainly not all plain sailing.

The biggest thing I got out of Richo today was we offload a few more players & sign 2-3 players...

We don't have 3 spots currently...

I am interested in Bird in how that changes the look of the back line.

Here's a guess - the Roosters are in a huge fight to retain Walker with a club which can more than match any offer it can make. Returning home to Qld must be a huge lure for Walker especially with his family's history with the Broncs. We all know you are willing to accept less to go home😁

I don’t think Roosters are as keen on Walker as people presume. The chip and chase is hardly the “Roosters way”.
