I think you're overly simplifying what was a complicated situation. As I recall the "early years" had two separate teams both with unused first grade players. It was only when Sheens wanted to move to a single feeder team and Wests Campbelltown demurred that Balmain effectively became the sole feeder club. As I understand it Balmain were prepared to support a Wests Tigers reserve grade side.

Sheens wanted all his NRL other than the top 17,in any given week playing together as opposed to playing against each other.
Balmain Ryde also trained with the first grade squad so they were all on. The same page

Yep. There should be no Wests Magpies/Balmain Tigers moving forward, separate 'boards', separate 'chairmen' or any other kind of sub-organisations belonging to 'one side' of the joint venture that are now ancient history.


The whole organisation needs to be Wests Tigers from top to bottom. FFS formalise it already!

All grades play as Wests Tigers.

ONE board - PROPERLY APPOINTED based on merit, with the maximum term of appointments set at 5 years.

Good they got a statement out, but you might think someone would proof read it carefully enough to get the date right. Last I checked, it is 2024, not 204. That's back when Emperor Marcus Aurelius was playing at halfback for Leichhardt Wanderers.

Burgess does have a soft spot for the magpies but is not trying to overthrow WT. The only people pushing for a magpies return to NRL are a few old fogeys supporters.

Thanks for posting … Im not sure Webster is talking from any particular knowledge though … this seems to be going on for 6-7 months now … shouldn’t take that long unless things are being deliberately delayed

No chance this will ever happen , the nrl won’t let it happen no matter what , the only thing that could happen is if the club was purchased by some Rich bugger , like Crowe and co , don’t panic , we hear for ever

100% NRL is a business. Feelings and nostalgia mean nothing unless a buck can be made. Just look at every team doing heritage round jerseys lol.

Webster is the closest journalist to Shane Richardson in the media.

💯 correct why are people who are out of touch with reality on any board related to Wests Tigers, Balmain Tigers or Wests Magpies ?
If we were smart our board would contain some influential media personalities such as Benny Elias and Joel Caine. We don’t have to particularly like them as people, but they both have good media profiles and both clearly have a soft spot for Wests Tigers. It would be crazy not to utilise their media influence as a positive for Wests Tigers.
