Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There has been plenty of mentions for Tyson Frizell, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Jack Bird, Dane Gagai.
We could make a great over 30’s team if some of those join Justin Olam, Api, Klemmer etc.
I don’t think the NRL competition is forgiving enough to allow you to succeed with too many over the hill has beens through.
Is it true Aware Superannuation is opening a branch at the COE? Some of the names mentioned in this thread are a concern.

Won’t happen, but the big horse, hunt and Kobe hetherington would be transformational to the pack. Hunt def impact off the line. Pole agreed is a no brainer to sign. Reserve grader from parra ??? Surplus requirements , the big bopper Gregg wouldn’t be too bad , just gotta keep him fit and away from the squishees at the kwik e Mart.

Being in brissy , I get around to a fair few q cup games. Young Ronald the winger from easts tigers, absolutely no fear in that kid, deceptively quick, knows one speed. Train and trial- I would be ok with that.

That is shame so looks like we are stuck with an overpriced dud in Sullivan unless he can pull his finger out and start playing like he should.
Pretty sure this was a Marshall signing so not great from that POV. $500k per season in reserve grade.

The 3 x 2025 signings all played last night:

Skelton: 17 runs for 170m, 49 PCM, 3 tackle breaks, 3 offloads

Turuva: 2 tries, 1 line break, 13 runs for 141m, 3 tackle breaks

Luai: 3 try assists, 1 line break, 1 line break assist, 13 runs for 87m, 4 tackle breaks, 4 offloads
Thanks for that T_O.
What position did Turuva end up playing?

Skelton had an average performance, was playing busted for 30 minutes of the clash and still made nearly double the metres that any of our current backs make in a game.

All 3 will be good additions in 2025!

Skelton got injured in the first half, but played on injured, Turuva was really good, Luai was man of the match, Luai and Turuva linked up on the left quite a few times.
Even the FOX crew who love to kick us when we are down, said Benji was proven right, he said he wanted Luai to run the team, most didn't think he could, but has proven them all wrong. Hell even Ivan begrudgingly praised him at the press conference

Skelton impressed me with a few things. What was obvious is his defence needs work. But his runs out of his own end and offloads are massive. Also he has a lot of skill for a big guy

We do need an experienced head in the forwards to play the role Klemmer was supposed to.
We have no alpha in the pack.
I get that an experienced player may be valuable but that doesn't mean he has to be towards the end of his career. A younger player, better able to cope with the rigours and pace of the game is ideal. Experience can be obtained but aging cannot be reversed.
