OFFICIAL Jack Bird #299

2 years @ $400k is a reasonable roll of the dice for Bird … they got to sign someone and the list of available players is not a long one … I would prefer him as a forward , but considering Olam and AD concerns at least he provides some cover there

Sounds like Bird is being signed to basically plug holes. He may force his way into a permant spot, but will always be the guy that covers injuries throughout the team. It's a role that Adam Doueihi should have been able to fill, but we know what he would do if thrown into the backrow. So Bird for 2 years is good IMO. My Dragons mates reckon he is near their best player when he plays.

Our side will have a very different look next year, but more importantly it will be full of personalities that we have not had for a long time.

Agree. While it's not a mouth watering signing, he is a first grader and a competitor.

We have played too many regular NSW Cup players like Faatape, Alaimalo, and Porter because our juniors are not ready.

Really hope this is to play lock. He’s a tough footy player. Will hopefully fill the role we wanted Bateman to play he’s just bigger and at half the price. Needs to stay on the field but adds something different to what we have next year.

No problems with this signing as it's for 400k a year with Dragons paying some 1st year.
Management has done a great job as he wanted 3 years but we stuck solid unlike past management.
Bird can cover alot of positions and very solid defended.
Might be a risk but he is not like past players on top dollar.

This signing gives me massive Tyrone Peachey vibes….
I don't think he has the massive brain snap issues that the Peach had but at 2 years and 400k and if he isn't injured all the time it won't be our worst signing of all time.

Didn't really want the signing but fingers crossed that it works out okay.

Not excited by this signing but hope I’m wrong about him. Have never liked him much so I will wait and see how he goes for us before rubbishing him.
Certainly no longer a first choice centre.

I don’t mind this. He has experience, he’s got some attitude, I think we need some experienced guys around our young squad. We aren’t paying $800k like we normally do for these kind of signings , so I’m all for it.
