Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Montoya is nothing like the players you’ve just mentioned and his yardage carries are better than stonestreets. He’s athletic and he’s rough in the sense he can hit with the ball and without it. Even if he’s not a starting winger, it’s an absolute no brainer. Especially if the wahs are contributing for a year
Talking of wingers is Ngutlik around next year.Hes big and fast or he was

CADE 7 you seem to be in the know anything on Ngutlik.

You've misinterpreted what I've said. I was referring to those players as they occupy roster positions and cap space, which in turn impacts our ability to build a stronger team.

Personally not a fan of his but it won't stop me from cheering him on if he comes to the club 😅

If Montoya is our depth then we are tracking great.

Montoya will only block the way for Large and Makasini. Also Luke L will be bigger and stronger next year dont forget hes only 18 almost 19.

Lets be real if he signs for 2 years he blocks no one. He buys them time to develop and not be rushed. Luke should never have played NRL this season but did because our depth sucked. He was rushed and made costly mistakes.

If what is being discussed is true he comes for 2yrs on a reduce wage as a squad player it’s a good pickup.

Although Jeral Skelton has good qualities, he also has some question marks about his game such as being a little bit slow off the mark, so I don’t think he’s an automatic selection in our side, he will need to earn it.
Charlie Staines has been our best winger this season, but his defence has been suspect and he hasn’t been breaking enough tackles, so his starting position will be under threat.
Turuva has played mainly as a winger for the Panthers, but he was apparently offered the opportunity to play as a centre when signing with us,
I agree someone like Sam Stonestreet would be great, but he’s not off contract until 2026 and I’m predicting the Sharks will prioritise him over Sione Katoa.
We also have the emerging Heamasi Makasini, but he has not long turned 17, no need to rush him into a regular NRL starting spot, give him time and let him earn it.
For these reasons Marcelo Montoya on a small contract subsidised by the Warriors would be a great addition to our side as an experienced, tall, strong and fast left winger.

A line up something like this looks like a big improvement to our 2024 roster;
  1. Jahream Bula / Heath Mason
  2. Jeral Skelton / Charlie Staines
  3. Sunia Turuva / Starford To’a
  4. Justin Olam / Josh Feledy
  5. Marcelo Montoya / Luke Laulilli
  6. Lachie Galvin / Adam Doueihi
  7. Jerome Luai / Niwhai Puru
  8. David Klemmer / Sione Fainu
  9. Api Korisau / Talyn Da Silva
  10. Daniel Saifiti / Tim Johanssen
  11. Jack Bird / Tony Sukkar
  12. Samuela Fainu / Billy Burns
  13. Jack Williams / Alex Seyfarth
  14. Latu Fainu / Tristan Hope
  15. Fonua Pole / Kit Laulilli
  16. Alex Twal / Chris Faagatu
  17. Royce Hunt / Jordan Miller

If you’re adding players that we haven’t even signed for next year to your fantasy football side…
You should add some more good ones.

We are supposedly close to signing Montoya and we are supposedly looking for at least one, possibly two more middles in Corey Horsburgh and Kobe Hetherington.
I don’t see either of those two coming, but would be happy if they do, particularly Hetherington who I believe is very under rated.
Saifiti dominated the Storm forward pack a few weeks back, was very good again today. He is only 28 keeps himself in very good condition and would be a great addition if slightly subsidised by the Knights.
Williams is off contract, obviously looking for a starting spot and a pay rise otherwise he would have already te-signed with the Sharks.

Saifiti is worth a think.

I wonder how he and Klemmer got along? Honestly it's slim pickings and we need a forward who can put in.

The problem is the game has changed. It has gone faster and Saifiti isn't exactly suited to modern league as Klemmer isn't exactly suited. But we can't have a walk over forward pack...

Worth a think.
