Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Weve just lost 3 genuine first graders..iIm mean international/SOO players
Theyre all forwards
We need like for like replacements.or were gonna go backwards..again
weve got one prop so far..not quite he has the same credentials as Stefano...but a more than able substitute
Other than that, were heavily invested in the next crop of junior forwards,..and just aint seeing solutions
,particularly given the the KOE Cup results.
There are no standout forwards coming thru next cple of years
We need better than fringe first graders
We've got a lot of guys who've been tapped and are taking up spots. If we are able to flick a couple of those guys there will be something that comes up in the off season.

For all the criticism of Bateman we were a much better defensive side with him starting then when he was out.

With him we averaged 28 points against including 5 games against the top 4 teams while without him we averaged 33 points against without playing a top 4 side

I do think that we are a better side with him then without him. I doubt he comes back but I hope we get a good replacement because we don't have one yet

I wonder who we chase now , KOBE is one , the prop from the knights or the eels prop , put they are on huge money , so I think there out , Kobe offered a small pay rise and a starting 13 , maybe . But we need two more forwards , hope Richo has a long list

It's going to be fascinating to see who Richo targets to replace Bateman, Ice and Stef. Is Hunt the Stef replacement or is he the middle we needed anyway. Were definitely a couple of backrower's and maybe a lock light. Horsburgh not on perhaps we found out last week, maybe they were waiting to announce he and Bird together seems like Bird has been done for some time. So we could have probably announced him last week maybe its just a news cycle thing who knows.

You found out about Horsebrough when? I mean you talking for yourself or the rest of us?
Horsburgh returned to first-grade calculations towards the end of the year, playing three of his five games for 2024 in the last three weeks of the regular season.

He notably scored the winning try in the 26-24 win over the Dragons that hoisted Canberra to ninth on the ladder to finish the year.

Horsburgh's management had initially approached the Green Machine to request a release from his deal, which expires at the end of 2027.

But AAP understands the 26-year-old has told the Raiders he is keen to remain at the club in 2025.

Would you let him go. That try was in the playbook. No luck at all.

Not enthused by Bird signing but let’s hope he has a couple of seasons in him where he can bring out some competitiveness and hunger, leading the way for our young guys. Hopefully he is not playing in the backs for us, would rather see him at 11, 12, 13 or 14.
As for missing out on Horsborough, hopefully somebody else comes along as an option- plenty of names flying around. Maybe Hetherington is a good choice. Also reading rumours around Montoya-I think he’s a good buy for 2 years if we can pay out a player like Tumeth or Matamua to make room.

The one thing I’ll say about Jack Bird is he’s a hell of a competitor! Has always been ever since his debut. Injury has let him down big time. But what u are getting is toughness, strong carries and someone who would never let his team down! Hopefully he stays injury free he will go great for us 🔥
I agree

Injury may limit his impact here but not a chance his heart or ability will

Maybe the rugby league gods will finally bless us with his signing
