Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yeah initially I noticed his missed tackles are low but that’s bcoz he doesn’t get near them to count as a missed tackle.
He is doobie-ish.
Look i think there’s definitely a player there but in our current set up and defensive structure, he sticks out which is a tough thing to do

For all the criticism of Bateman we were a much better defensive side with him starting then when he was out.

With him we averaged 28 points against including 5 games against the top 4 teams while without him we averaged 33 points against without playing a top 4 side

I do think that we are a better side with him then without him. I doubt he comes back but I hope we get a good replacement because we don't have one yet
Bird walks into his spot and is better in every facet of the game

He has more ticka than Doobie, but reggies, NRL cover, and not in the top 30 is where he is at, and where we need him to stay. If he magically gets both his A, and especially his D game, better over the next season, then we can talk top 30 for 26.
We need to get ruthless with top 30 spots, and use the development and the T&T contracts to our advantage. You need to earn the top 30 spot.

Maybe we take a close look at Campbell-Gilliard now. He put the cleaners through us on Friday.
The mistake of signing a bloke from a handful of matches. Sign him because he will go well for the next 2 seasons, not because of Spoonbowl.

He's had 5 years to improve it, and shown zero inclination to do so. He's a lazy player with a bad attitude, should be out the door but was yet another reckless re-signing on a roster spot we didn't have free.
I dont know how you can say he's a lazy player, he battled back from 3 ACLs and is still a fit and strong performer.

The main issue with AD is he just doesn't read the game well. I don't think that's laziness, it's just a skill he hasn't developed and probably never will. He is one of those athletic players who is grafting a career out of physical attributes rather than a deep understanding of the game.

i'm hoping they have another crack at Cory over the off season.

Maybe he's just in the huddle with his mates now getting drunk etc

when that wears off maybe richo throws another $50K per year at him or another year on the deal to see who he feels after the hang over wears off.

never know

I said a month or so ago we should go after Welch, and boom, Broncos are interested in signing him. Just like Tupouniua mid-year. We missed out on sitili and he's played the best footy of his career in the past 2 months. Bulldogs will probably play him in their middle next year. We need someone who will set standards like welch. He's not a bateman, klemmer or tamou. He will be good for club culture. If our fans can get behind the 'injury-prone' Jack Bird, why can't we get behind a guy from a great system who is a good bloke, who will guide the young fellas who are premature in their weekly NRL efforts

Welch is terrible.

Reports are Bronx are interested in RCG

Storm have to offload someone

Dogs signed Tupouniua for 4 years, no thanks

Injury prone Jack Bird has played 73 games in the last 4 years (despite not making finals) while Welch has played 66 despite going deep into the finals every year
