Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Daily Telegraph

Departing Eels Reagan Campbell-Gillard is set to sign with a Sydney-based club despite revelations of an explosive showdown with Dragons coach Shane Flanagan.

A furious Flanagan hung up the phone on Campbell-Gillard’s management on Monday after the coach was informed ‘RCG’ had ruled out a rumoured move to the Dragons.

Flanagan was confident Campbell-Gillard was all but a done deal. So when he was advised the prop had a change of heart, the premiership coach saw red and snapped, hanging up on his agent.

Goodbye Dragons. The search for a new club continues.

Brisbane emerged as the next shock destination for Campbell-Gillard in the wake of the Red V bust-up, but it’s understood the 31-year-old will not be wearing Broncos colours in 2025.

The Broncos have one spot available on their roster but Brisbane have salary-cap pressures and cannot afford Campbell-Gillard, who was on $775,000 this season.

The former NSW prop is eyeing a three-year deal. It is understood Campbell-Gillard will remain in Sydney next year, although it won’t be with Wayne Bennett’s Rabbitohs, who, like the Broncos, have salary-cap constraints.

typically comes out on awards night. ours isn’t until 11 October. might be waiting a while.

Richo’s probably conducting a fire sale as we speak.
Bonfire sale, I reckon.

It’s gotta be a tough sell. “ Hey, I’ve heard you need a half, centre, prop, etc, we have this one that hasn’t fulfilled his potential and played reggies most the year with some average NRL games, do you wanna pay overs for one or 3 of them, please 🙏. “

Wow , that’s late after the season ends , players will,be on holidays or moved on , wonder if Stef and Papi turn up to the night ,
They both should, and be welcomed.
But it wouldn’t surprise if Stef didn’t.
Paps will be there for sure, not often a player sign’s elsewhere and steps it up for their current tea, and is quoted as saying he didn’t reckon he’d performed up to contract value previously.
As much as Paps has shit me with his average performances, his attitude towards the end was noticeable and I appreciate him for not dogging it at the end.

I think a standard NRL contract finishes Nov 1 on the particular year

He'll stay with the Eels then...he is contracted to them for 2025

Bulldogs would be my guess.

RCG will have to take a pay cut from $775k if he thinks he can go to the Roosters. Not sure how many more players the Dogs can have.

Romey gets it done before the 79th.
He does, but if it ever came to that big moment, is he the guy? Start of this year we had plenty of close games. I don't expect him to stop the bad defence and conceding points, but as a half the pressure will be on him to deliver under pressure. Sezer was the ice man this year. Brooks was able to do it at times in the past

Same management company as Turuva I am pretty sure. 2nd time Dragons have been burnt thinking they had a signing by the sounds of it.

Sione has been outstanding for Saints. Covered prop, second row and centre superbly well. I'd be very happy to see Wests pick him up.
Sione Mata’utia has been brilliant for the Pommy side Saint Helens .. but is his body up for the speed the NRL plays at these days .. ?? He's only 28 yrs young .. can play anywhere in the forwards and a capable centre if needed .. he'd be the perfect number 14 for any club .. you gotta reckon if he returns to the NRL it would be with Newie. But there would be no harm in the Tigers asking to have a chat with him to see if he's up for it.

Lol @ Brooks getting it done 🤣
There has been several times in the last 5 or so years brooks has won the game for us. Of course, he has also lost a lot of games for us. But that is beyond the point. The fact is he can do it, and has done it. The jury is out on luai, and he's played footy since 2018 and has never really won the game under pressure
