Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

RFM, Leuilua (cows are paying half of his salary) & Kyle were all solid first grade players this year… Are you saying they were bad signings? Let’s not forget Dragons were predicted to be in the spoon battle with us but were instead fighting for the top 8. Those signings along with Flanagan clearly made a difference
Not saying they're not half-decent. The original comment is that Flanno only signs players with 'the right stuff". None of those meet that criteria in my opinion. YMMV.

Why do people keep picking Bateman if he wants to come back to get his money put him in reserve grade

Ha ha ha-------------Love it!

Derrick’s on this forum wouldn’t know a good player if he was a foot in front of them. Hunt and Bird slander is an absolute joke before a ball has even been kicked 😂
Mate are you kidding. We finished last and lost our last game to a shit team and had 60 scored against us. You really think those 2 players are going to make a difference to our forward pack. Regardless of Luai, people think Penrith need Cleary as well and look at Penriths forwards. Come on man this club is seriously kidding themselves with payers lost and players gained so far. WE NEED FORWARDS WITH SOME IMPACT THAT CAN DEFEND. With the pack mentioned on this forum everyday we get another spoon.

Make the Ice release even more puzzling, we have this war chest with no one to spend it on whats the point of it.
Are we going to use it to pay out some of the rubbish on the roster?
I was a critic of Papali'i but if you're going to let him go have someone else lined up clearly we didnt now we need to recruit a decent backrower to replace him and no Bird isn't it.

No it doesn’t ! He didn’t want to be here , as much as he put in a brave face and never let anyone down .
That’s a huge detriment to culture . If he had checked even 1% , that’s 1% too much . And to be fair his performances lifted once he had signed with Penrith .
Everyone was screaming for his head at the start of the season .
All this talk about hunt and bird being no good is hilarious . St George beat us with prop rotations of Blake Lawrie , a past it De Berlin, Tom eisenhuth and whoever else .
It’s about buy in and commitment . Even the roosters with plucking may out of KOE cup purgatory( he was here for a coffee and a smoke a couple of years ago ) , prove that especially in the middle being battle hardened and up the grind is all that really matters .
Some of you are just lost in the “oooo ahhhj” of what you’re watching week to week . Rarely does that shit mean anything . Look at the broncos this year with Reece Walsh . They were a basket case . Why because of lack of commitment to the grind .
All I want is a group of middles who turn up make thier metres / fight through contact ,make thier tackles , close down holes and play the ball quickly .
Thats it . The rest is horseshit ! Look at Stef . It’s all dazzle dazzle and zero substance .

You forgot this coming email which is sure to join the ones mentioned above:
Tigers lock in young guns long term - Makasini and Large commit long term to the club.

Papalii best footy with us was when he got shifted to 13 and after he signed with Penrith

you’ve not even read what I’ve wrote so what a waste of a paragraph. Me sticking up for 2 of our signings that haven’t even held the jersey yet, means I think they’re going to take us to the promise land ? Okay champ, take some deep breaths

Yes i understand all that and don't necessarily disagree, my main point is why let him go with no replacement?
No doubt come Nov 1 he signs elsewhere we all know that but we could leverage Penrith or whoever else signed him now we have no leverage besides cap space. Cap space which every man and their dog knows we have which probably squeezes extra out of us for player signings. The only way i see it as a positive is as a roster spot.

And needed the roster spot ? We needed to turn the last placed squad over ? As good as ice has been , he’s hardly been worth the 650k he was getting and I’d argue at times most of the pack have out played him . I’d even say Sione Fainu has looked better than him . This is all recency bias because of his last 2 games .

What attributes does it take to turn a talented junior into a decent 10 year NRL player.
Over the years we have had plenty of so called Gods of State Cup but very few seem to make it for WT. Thoughts?
